Thread title is making me feel uncomfortable.

More than the actual bones.

Is your collection focused on skulls? Or do you just take what you can get?

Do you use them for art projects/keep them/sell them?

Alright, so what is the story behind the alligator bones? Did you find a dead alligator on the side of the road and haul it into your car, or what?

ALLIGATOR STORY: my grandpa hunts alligators during season. this is one of three heads he has this year. it has no teeth, but it DOES have a cool injury i'll take a photo of tomorrow. he's got two more he's mascerating and he's going to try to salvage the teeth for me. he says those are bigger. this one game off of a 10+ foot gator and the skull itself is over 2ft long so i'm terrified of the bigger ones. fun fact: i illegally own this alligator skull. don't call the popo on me. i also got the dog and the whitetail skull from him. the rest i found myself with the exception of the cat fetus and the racoon baculum and an opossum hyoid, all from my best friend.

CHARIZARD'S QUESTION: i focus on skulls (because they're the coolest part,) but i also take what i can get. the little bowl to the left of the VCR contains various parts of an oppossum, half a raccoon baculum (thanks for eating it hoxton,) and two vertebra from the cat. i don't know what to do with any of the various parts so i will probably just put them in a box somewhere. full, articulated skeletons are a goal but i have limited display space right now.

i don't think so? as far as i know he hunts them for sport and sells the bodies to people who then sell them for food and textiles. fun fact: swamp people wanted to put him on the show but the man who owns the land he hunts on wouldn't let them film on his property.

and yeah every time we go to la i spend more cheddar than i'm proud of on fried alligator because holy shit

well i've only been actively doing it for like a year now because i lived at home/in an apartment til then. my parents have a small yard and my mom is squeamish, lol. i've always been fascinated with bones and skull and taxidermy. i have a friend that also likes to hack apart dead animals for bones and body parts and we kinda feed off of one another. they mail me penises and fetuses, i mail them skull casts and mouse hearts. y'know. usual stuff.
