I might attempt at Dark Souls again, screw that black-knight character guarding that chest, I can't parry worth shit and he's the only problem I've been having since day one.

Yeah I've talked to him after getting each of the crowns. That's one of the things that's getting me super hyped for the next dlc

hex builds in dks2 are so good
old news i know but the stuff in the game that lets you get better casting time (ATN, lion mage set, clear bluestone ring, upgradable staff cast speeds) make mages way, way more versatile. casting and rolling feels as natural to me as swordpoking and blocking (and is faster and does more damage on average imo)
currently doing abyss seal + buffing the dark chaos blade for maximum draining of my starting hp. i'm having trouble finding petrified dragon bones tho, i guess you're supposed to wait until the aerie but is there any other way to get them earlier?

also i really hate the change they made to the standard backstab animation. thrusting a sword through a dude's back at least made sense and felt good but kicking a guy down to a kneeling position and lashing him on the back with a sword three times makes way less sense, at least to me. also you can get hit during it which is hellsa lame

hex builds are actually severely OP due to a lot of them being cast from very very high cast rate chimes which also have high dark damage, as opposed to sorceries being cast at a generally much slower speed with the high magic damage staves. this, along with dark damage being the new lightning with no real solid defenses against it, makes it really just massively horrible.

you know what's more fun

bleed builds are fun

if just for the wild mass confusion people have when you manage to bleed them out

it's much worse than DS1 damage wise, but there's something to be said about the psychological aspect. i've seen plenty of people who shield up and try to somehow prevent 500+ bleed every hit, and then freak out when that doesn't work for them, followed by them continuing to shield and easily guard broken and riposted.

it's also great because some really fun weapons have bleed damage, including the flamberge, which is quickly becoming my favorite greatsword.

the general tactic is use flamberge for actually attacking, with a notched whip in the offhand because like fucking 300 bleed damage, and when they back off from the sword start building the bleed. i also generally keep another whip for power stance reasons, and two hits from that is like immediate bleed.

it's so fun i love it

i don't even do pvp, i was just talkin bout goin through the game. the pvp i have done in the belltower has been pretty ez, all you gotta do is spam dark orb (and dark fog, if you wanna be even more of a dick)
i'm sure the chime hexes are better, they're just annoying to deal with because souls and attunement slots are valuable
