Seltas is 100% not a real monster. He's got less health in Low Rank than a Konchu in G-rank. He is pathetic.

Your first big, real fight is going to be against Yian Kut-ku. It's the first wyvern moveset, which you will REALLY have to get down, and it's the first actual threat.



High through G rank. After Shagaru in the Caravan, you hit High Rank in singleplayer, and in multiplayer it's 4-G3 quests. Don't worry too much about them, they drop from blue mining nodes in the tundra pretty solidly, and from purple gypceros.

I'm getting freaking PTSD flashbacks to the "Cap Two Diablos" quest from Tri and this is one solitary monster

Side note: The female Rhenoplos armor is hella cute.

Finally took down the Frenzied Brachydios. What a fight. Every other time I fought it it crushed me in less than five minutes flat, but this time I just got gud. I still carted once and came dangerously close to doing so a second time, but when I blocked almost everything he threw at me when I was at low health I felt like a real champ.

Also, I seriously underestimated the worth of Guard+2 as a skill before now. Being able to block that stream of explosions from his horn was invaluable.

Yeah, that was pretty much my strategy in Tri.

Get Agnaktor armor (which provides a bunch of Guard) and use a lance with it.

I'm sad Sand Barioth isn't back in this game, his armor and the Brachy DB's are what I bodaciously soloed G-Rank in 3U with. I mean, you can get his claw from the Wycoon, but you can just make a weapon with that, not his armor. Speaking of the 3rd Generation, where the hell are most of the monsters? I understand you can't really bring back most of the Leviathans (doesn't excuse Agnaktor or Nibelsnarf) but only two Brutes? And no Barioth? I mean, I like these 2nd Generation monsters as much as the next guy but... really?

I'm really excited to finish my Ludroth armor set.

Tetsucabra actually put up a good fight. That bastard ran away like 4 times before he died.
