I ordered a Lucario amiibo off amazon from Japan for $30, takes as many days to ship as it does dollars I spent(hint: a month)

That's imports for you. It will be sent within 2 days, arrive in America in the next 5, then spend 3 weeks in customs before it gets to your house 8 hours after it leaves customs.

Well.
They're not fully custom amiibos, but it's still pretty interesting

Nintendo's gonna flip their shit when they hear about that.

Too bad for them, I guess they should have made more amiibos.

Uh, technically isn't it illegal to rebrand an existing product and sell it in America? I mean, they're basically selling Amiibo's that the dude bought and recolored, and will probably sell em' for like 20 bucks each.

Amazing.

Kotaku actually published something informative and useful.

I'm just shocked that I wasn't aware of the port strike even though I live near the west coast???? wtf

...wow. I had no idea there was anything going on. I just assumed Nintendo was just making some good ol' Nintendo blunders.

I heard briefly about the strike but I never put two and two together

I'm sorry I yelled at you about artificial scarcity, Ninty

I knew about the strike via an RPG publisher who's dealing with it, but like AB I never realized it would be affecting Nintendo too.

... Lately I've been thinking that the artificial scarcity was on purpose, at least somewhat. Like, the port strike is likely affecting it, but I think Nintendo wanted people to buy these amiibo NOW. They didn't want people thinking "Oh, I'd like one eventually, but I'll wait for a certain game/a pricedrop/more functionality first." They got people to buy them immediately, so that they could have an influx of sweet cheddar right now.

Maybe in the future when the hype dies down, they'll release all of the "discontinued" amiibo so that people will rush back in and grab them. I don't know.

I never thought it was actual artifical scarcity, but rather that Nintendo just happens to be awfully incompetent and can't ever produce enough to feed all the hungry mouths.

I figured it was more of Lets make more of our most known characters. That strike does make sense now.
