Fun story time thread.

So I was playing some valve pub servers, and I got a random trade from some guy, dude offered a key, strange harlequin boots for scout, and the cold stompers for soldier, including a few other weapons. All I gave him was a strange specialized phlog and a strange stickybomb launcher, I accepted like a flipping dumbass/asshole hybrid, and proceeded to try and contact him via steam and give the items back.

He de-friended me, I blame language barriers, but I really don't know what to do now, that key is so fucking tempting in my inventory. I'm thinking if he ever comes back to get his shit, I'll give him two keys as an apology, that a good route to take?

It's generally considered rude by the TF2 community to scam people, you just come off as a selfish asshole.

He scammed himself though. I get that you feel bad but not much sense worrying about it too much.

Some people just don't care about certain items.
I've had tons of people give me stranges and hats for common weapons just because they wanted them for their collection.

Mind you I asked them a billion times if it was okay of course.

So I decided to get off Valve Servers and started to go on some community servers. Mostly Skial, and I'm finding I'm having a much better experience. Like holy shit, people actually understand that that 5 snipers and 3 spies is bad. There are still incompetents but I'm having more fun than I would have on the official servers (Which is kind of sad really)

I avoid community servers because advertisement spam and potentially invasive/game-altering proletariats. Also 'donator privileges'.
As a result most community servers to me come off as really scummy-looking.

There was one really good one I used for a long time but even it devolved into the same thing eventually.

Donator Privileges don't seem too bad on Skial, I hear Saigns is pretty bad about it but Skial seems ok, and the only proletariats they have is that stat tracker thing.
