It's clear to me that this is the only thing that people will take away from the series. The overarching plot elements, character development, and riveting action scenes are going to be completely overshadowed by ending on Korra and Asami holding hands. It's the only thing tumblr and entertainment news outlets will talk about, and most likely the only thing animators and studios will try to emulate, especially given the vendetta that networks seem to have against action cartoons.

By "people", do you mean the audience, studio executives, or both?

Because I can't speak for everyone, but I still love the series for all the things you mentioned. I just really wanted Korrasami to happen.

you weren't paying attention to Korra and Asami's interactions in the last two seasons then

Most of the audience discussion will center on it, and then the studio execs will be paying attention to what the audience reaction was and what their focus is on.

As pop flyin' as I am for Korrasami being a thing now that a relationship for them made sense with all that romantic subtext. I also find it pretty hilarious about the possibility that Mako made them lesbians, but of course they could be bisexual.

But that whole schtick with Asami's dad dying. I shed actual tears at that part. When Mako looked just about dead, I didn't expect 2 noble sacrifices in one episode, but considering that this show does some pretty crazy stuff sometimes, I felt that it was in the cards.

This was a pretty cool finale and had a lot of really neat action scenes, lots of development for especially Wu.

The biggest surprise, to me, about the finale, was that Bolin got authorized to officiate weddings.

Jokes aside that finale was fantastic, it really seemed like Korra was finally able to unleash her full potential as the avatar which made all those fight scenes amazing.

Bryan Konietzko, co-creator of The Legend of Korra, discusses the finale.

That last scene is one of my favorites, not because of shipping (the shipping was my least favorite part of the scene. I'm not a huge shipper) I liked the scene because to me, Asami represented new technology, Korra represented old traditions, and the Spirit portal represented...well... spirits. And in that scene, they all came together in balance.
balance
The name of the freakin' book

So yeah, there are my two cents.

Mike and Bryan will be going to Comic-Con to talk about stuff. My guess is that they will announce that Book 5 will be airing on the CW. Think about it; it's the place for series that are nothing but stilted romance plots. It's absolutely perfect for what the show's become! Mike and Bryan wouldn't even have to try and add in complex plotlines or well-written character arcs like previous seasons had. Well, The Last Airbender, anyway...

Is there really going to be a book 5

Really

The original series maintained a solid story within three books and this series has a Villain of the Month for each book and they're up to 5, just lay the pillow over its face, it's time to put it to rest forever

I honestly don't know. But that duo is going to be there at Comic-Con talking about Avatar and I really hope it's just something like "We're done, guys" or something and then the announcement of a brand new idea they're working on. Of course, if they announce a new project or series they're still going to be beholden to tons of fans who have made it clear that they value romance above all else, so said series is bound to get bogged down in more relationship nonsense.
