I somehow forgot how dark the last chapter ended, so my reaction to the chapter cover page was something along the lines of

Alright, so Elka is in mortal danger right now, and Elan has a chance to save her. Do you think he can muster up the courage to try?

Well, Elan did a decent job at the rescue. Wonder where they're gonna wash up?

New page. I wonder who (or what) is trying to sneak up on Toma?

I'm going to assume it's not just some stray cat that's fond of wandering haunted tunnels.

Stockyard's two best thugs snuck up on Toma. He's been hit with those spinning blade things which I think are poison, but his dog managed to bite one of them in the arm. She's probably out of commission (I'm not sure she can work with pymary when her arm is messed up and she's lost a lot of blood; would be tough to concentrate), but now the dog's at the bottom of a chasm. Things aren't looking too hot, no matter how many generic goons he cuts down.

New page. Toma is making a retreat after being wounded and telling Ana like it is.

Toma's been practicing his platforming mid-air poses.

Quigley, I don't think insulting the plane of magic that permeates the world is going to help you restore Uaid's leg. Also I forgot that we're gonna get a flashback to when his wife Vienne was still alive.

This flashback arc is adorable. I have good feelings about how it's going to end.

I had to go back and read to remember how Vienne's machinery worked.

Quigley's reminisced some more, and Rahm's wife (I forget her name) told him that she knows how to get a burner powerful enough to fix Uaid. I liked this little nipper of it: "Are you a good man, Mr. Quigley?" "No. But perhaps my son someday will be."

Now Matty and Jivi are back from the big fight that was going on topside and told Quigs how Sette saved them. Hopefully they relay her request to have him join up in the fight against Stockyard.
