Tents and Mirth wasn't a carnival, it was a bunch of striped rounded shapes and billowing cloth. More a circus than a carnival.

Actually... I think this is the Callie from the timeline John is currently tampering with. Note that Jade's story involved John dying and Jane's ends with Roxy's death. This means Gamzee may actually still be alive when John finishes doing everything on the list.

Callie isn't part of John's retcon-worked timeline because she's not even from or in the possible area of effect.

She's from another universe entirely, and has been in the furthest ring. John's retcon shenanigans don't affect her. They affect this Jade and Jane because they are FROM the retcon timeline, and are currently still affected by it. Callie has never been affected by it directly and probably will not be for a while.

Amazingly, it doesn't even really matter. All of John's changes affect NONE of Callie's experiences. John is changing the troll's timeline exclusively so far, the changes to the Alpha Kids' timeline happen after the session blackout, and the changes to the golden ship trip might not actually happen until AFTER John is done with his changes.

We actually never got a DEAD scene for Gamzee.

Another thing is everyone showing up with Callie so far has been from the new, retconned timeline. We don't know if Gamzee is mind-controlled during that, and it's entirely possible the changes John makes to the troll's timeline prevent it somewhat.
