[Hello everyone ! Always wanted to do a Pirate-themed Mafia game, so here I am. Be prepared, I'm going to try out some new things, experiment with uncommon roles or simply modified ones. I tend to use a lot of rp, for the ambiance. You don't have to do so too, and the game will go just as well if you don't, but I find it adds a little something. I know I will. The rules are as follows :
1 - Pirates must kill all traitors, and Traitors must kill all pirates. It's as simple as that.
2 - The game is split into two segments : Day and Night. During the day you can talk together here, and debate on who to lynch (or on wheter to kill someone). You'll post your votes here as well. The Day ends when the vote is over, and Night begins. During Night, no posts are allowed here. Any use of your powers must be sent by mp to me. The Traitors will gather, decide who to kill and Night will end.
3 - No Metagame. NOT AT ALL. What happens outside the game must not get in the game, and vice-versa.
4 - A day musn't last longer than a week. If it does ... Nobody will be lynched.
5 - I don't know ... Have fun, I guess ? Yeah, that's a rule. If you have any question I'm here.]

Oh, it's you. So you survived the battle ? I'm pop flyin' you did, I would have missed seeing you. Besides, you're about the only one here who listens to my stories ... Still, we've lost many men yesterday, and we'll mourn them once we reach a safe haven, just not now. As a wise man once said "Mourning is ... is ... Ah, heck, I can't remember what he said. The point is : We're alive now, and it's the only thing that counts.
Hey, did you hear ? Apparently this wasn't a coincidence ... The Marine's ship knew where to find us. Turns out they've got spies on the ship. From what I heard, the thought they could take us down with only one ship ... Ha ! We sure showed them, didn't we ? Yeah ... Except this means the traitors will have to go the hard way to take us out. Yep, you heard right, apparently they've already killed one of us, the poor old doctor. If you want my advice, be careful who you talk to, and who you trust ... Oh, but know that I think about it, you're fairly new, aren't you ? Maybe you don't know everyone yet ? Well, let me tell you the stories :

Good, "honest" pirates :

The Look-out (Watcher)
Oh, this one's a useful one. He's the nimble little guy who climbs up here, in the crow's nest, on top of the mast. He watches the sea around the ship ... but when he's bored - don't tell anyone - he likes to spy on us, to see what we're doing. Maybe he sees interesting things ? Who knows ...
[Watches what happens to one person each night. Will see who did what, but not the role of the culprit]

The Carpenter (Protector)

Don't let his name fool ya : this Carpenter hasn't touched a piece of wood in some time. See, when our last doctor died we were left with a bunch of gangrenous folks on our arms. So we asked the only guy who had a saw to do something. Turns out he's not bad at this. Well, not THAT bad. Don't be afraid if you meet him walking between the hammocks, he's just looking for another victim ...
[Protect one person from any physical harm each night]

The First Mate (Detective)
He's the second in command of the Captain. The poor guy thinks it's his fault there are traitors on the ship, and he's really, REALLY angry about it. Someone told me he randomly snoops in our stuff from time to time ... Is he going mad ?
[Investigate one person's role each night]

The Cook (Poisoner)
Good ol' cook ! A big, fat, nice guy, always smiling and joking. His cooking is not what you could call ... "edible", but when you've been at sea for more than two month anything tastes like salty salt with a side order of rotting algae anyway. Be careful though, I heard he got his hands on the late doctor's vials, who knows what he plans on doing with them ...
[Can poison ONE person during the game. This person will die the next night. Works even if the victim is protected, but not if he's in prison]

The ex-Marine (Traitor)
I don't trust this one ... We found him in a Marine ship, tied in the hold, and he claimed he was once one of them but tried to join the pirates. We took him with us, and ever since he's been a good pirate but ... I can't shake the feeling he hasn't told us everything. Who knows, he may still be on their side ...
[If investigated, will show as guilty]

The Petty Officer (Blocker)
Nobody likes this guy. He only likes to humiliate us, hiding behind the First Mate whenever we try to get back at him ... Now he's in charge of the "Jail", and he loves to abuse this power and lock in any sailor who displeases him. At least, in there, you can have a bit of calm and rest, and the food is not as bad as the cook's ...
[If the Jailer decides to throw you in prison, you'll be safe in here, nobody will be able to kill you or affect you in any way ... but you won't be able to use your own powers. The only exception is the Swashbuckler]

The Old one (Double-Voter)
I don't think he's ever been young. He's wrinkled, covered in scars ... But he's seen everything. Sailed through all seven seas, saw Cape Horne, went through the Mother of Storm, saw Davy Jones' ship, fought with the dead sailors of the Flying Deutchman ... Or so he says. One thing's for sure : On the ship, his word counts a lot in any decision ... Listen to him, who knows how long he'll be with us ...
[As long as the Old one's role hasn't been revealed, he's an ordinary pirate. He can chose to reveal himself or be revealed when the ship tries to lynch him - in which case he won't be. From this moment on, his vote counts as two ... But he only has two more days to live. Only exception : the Carpenter can keep him alive ... At the cost of his night action.]

"Evil" Marine Traitors :

The Seductress (Blocker)
I always thought the "no woman" rule was a ridiculous superstition, and until now there was no reason to doubt it. Turns out for once it might bring us bad luck ... Apparently among the female sailors we've got onboard, there's one who works for the Marines. They say she seduces you ... and then knocks you out and leaves you tied to your bed for the others to find and kill you properly. Or maybe she'll just leave you that way, as a reminder that she could have killed you ...
[The Seductress can block one person's power each night]

The Swashbuckler (Assassin)
This one's the most dangerous. They say he's a mercenary, some kind of assassin the Marines hired to kill us all. He's the best swordsman on this side of the world, a formidable warrior who fought against hundreds of ennemies, who can not only hide himself in the shadows but become the shadows, and kill you without any sound ... Or so I'm told. I don't know about you, but I'm sleeping with a gun tonight ...
[Once in the game, the Swashbuckler can kill one person whatever protection they have. Nothing will stop him. This counts as the Traitors' kill for the night]

The Spy (Shadow/Godfather)
Ah, that one's interessant. From what I know he's the one behind all of this, the plot, the treason, all those deads ... Don't know who he is, where he's from, what his story is. He always did his best to stay in the shadows, so we don't know anything about him. He could be anybody, even the captain, even you. Heck, it could even be me ...
[If investigated, will be found not guilty. Decides who kills the target of the mafia's kill.]

The ... Wild cards :

The Mutineer (Cult leader)

I heard part of the crew doesn't like how this is going. They say we shouldn't obey the captain's whims or endure the First Mate's paranoia. Apparently they're led by some kind of rebel who seeks to take the captain's place for himself. For now there's nothing to worry about, but he's been gathering a lot of mutineers recently ... Maybe he want to use the confusion to his advantage ? In any case, stay alert ...
[Each night, the Mutineer turns a player into one of his men. This person's goal is now to protect the rebellion. The mutineers win when they're the only one left alive ...]

The Monster (Killer)

Oh, this one ? ... No, I don't think you want to hear it. To be honest I don't want to believe it. They say ... They say we're cursed. I don't know what we've done to deserve that but ... They say there is something onboard, something that wants blood ... our blood. I haven't seen the corpses the captain threw to the see, you know, but ... There's something in the air, I know we all smell it ... Of course it may just be a rumor. If it isn't ...
[The Monster kills one person each night, until he's killed or is the last man standing]

Image

I think that's about it. Apparently the plan is : elect a new captain, then we go on a long hunt to find and hang the traitors. I'm afraid, son, I've got the feeling this may cost us the ship ...

[The captain's only role is choosing whenever a vote comes to a tie.]

[I planned on 12 players. Depending of the number of candidates, some roles may be added or removed, but we'll see about that.
