My guess is thatJohn will meet Typheus and be given the choice to master his retcon powers so he can undo [S] Game Over, but doing so will ultimately result in his death.

Alt!Caliope's story is about the differences between her life and her brother's.

Her and Caliborn's parents would have existed regardless of whether or not John scratched his session. Which means it's likely they met, space-dragon-fucked, and still had Caliborn and Calliope.

The scratch seems to switch positions between players, so in the original universe, Calliope won and entered the game.

The scratch switched it, so Caliborn was the one to enter.

It's so highly unlikely that Alpha John will ever die for real, especially with him now being The MacGuffin, but there's a solid chance we're gonna hear more about the John that died in order to bring Dave back in time and become Davesprite, because we STILL don't know his ultimate choice.

The Scratch only affects the universe that spawned said session, and even then only in a very limited manner; the one the cherubs hail from is the one created by the kids' successful void session and would thus be unaffected by anything that happened in the B1 session

For a second I thought that the cherub's universe was just the post-scratch human universe but then i remembered that it ended in 2422 so that couldn't possibly be the case.

Yeah I forgot that too.

Still, John is probably the least likely character to die permanently. The only one of the four kids who's probably going to kick it forever is Dave.

And if I remember correctly, we don't yet know if the Alpha session will ever actually bear fruit. So it's entirely likely that something else happens.

We also don't know if a scratch affects JUST the one universe. Logically, it would affect the entirety of Paradox Space. The trolls only ever connected to the Beta session, but had they tried after the scratch happened, they may have seen the Alpha session. It also naturally completely reset their Billious Slick and maybe even changed some of the events of it's creation in order to facilitate the changes.

Also, Jade mentions that John "died". Not will die, HAS died. We've only ever really known the one dead John, who, like I said, made a choice where he felt his death was the best possible outcome because of how important it was.

Homestuck really implies that willpower shapes the alpha timeline, had John NOT chosen to die, it's possible they could have easily continued their session unhindered. Even if he resigned himself to ultimate doom, unless there was a good reason, John would probably at least TALK to someone first, which he didn't. Meaning something very VITALLY important to something bigger than just their session caused him to decide to die exactly how he did.

We just have no idea WHAT that could be.

I did wanna remind you Galaxy that it's very likely John will die again, as it was alluded to by Doc Scratch during his intermission when he was narrating the story. I remember him saying "When the Hero of Breath dies for good, It won't be as a scoundrel." That may have just been speculation on Doc's part, knowing that English was on his way/already there, or it could be foreshadowing. Not quite sure, but I always too it as sort of precognitive on Doc's part.

Scratch's main characteristic is everything he says is completely literal. He doesn't lie, and he doesn't embellish much, unless it's to really drive a point home or fufill a long-running joke. What he's saying is he can't see or be sure of John's death, but he understands John's character and believes John will never do anything that will cause him to die as a villain.

Dave is the one we need to look at as the person to permanently die. Every time we see something symbolic of Dave, it's scratched. This seems like forshadowing to the actual Scratch, but it's consistant even to when we see his time symbol.

Lot of hints pointing to Dave being the one to finally cripple or kill Lord English, and dying a heroic death in the process, fulfilling his character development into realizing he is a hero and he is stronger than he thinks.

Though, a lot of people also think Dave is going to scratch Caliborn's session, and die in the process of THAT.

the point is not a lot of forshadowing that john will ever die permanently, most of it is towards dave.
