Artistically I have improved but my ideas are still hilariously terrible.

Honestly, your anatomy looks like it could still use some work. Most of the heads look like they are barely connected to the neck.

Also the line weight looks like it was thrown in as an afterthought. There really doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why some lines are thicker than others. Line weight is meant to help convey depth on a 2-d plane while using little to no shading. However, I'm not really getting a sense of depth from this.

You are right, I did this before I was really forcing myself to think about line weight, since it has become really important for me to improve on line variation for my animation portfolio. Doing line weight like this I am told is very much a comic book way, outlining the entire character thickly makes it look flat but it appeals to me in a way where it makes the character pop out from the background.

I notice the necks looking a little wonk wonk, I'll work on improving that in future art pieces.

Kinda posted this in the avatar/sig tread already, but I finally drew another Malamar.

I might color it in the future, but I don't have time right now.

So my father and stepmother are running a small pie business in their town and asked me to design a mascot for them.

I only have huge copies of the images, so links only.
Lineart
Slight shading

It's a bit messy, but I had a friend run it through Adobe Illustrator's LiveTrace and it came out very clean. I'm pretty proud of it, myself. It fits a little family-run side project.

I'm learning pixel art and I made something that looks kind of decent during practice.

That looks pretty okay for learning, I suggest adding a bit of shading to the back of the board and maybe a bit of detail on the skeletons to distinguish certain bone parts.

Also, I think that hat could be done a bit better with an outline. Other than that, good job!

Yeah, shading is the main thing I need to get down right now. I definitely could/should have done it higher detail as well, but I made the original in 64x64 and then just upscaled it to 256x256 without bothering.
