actually after reading some things and rewatching the flash

this is pretty likely a doomed timeline, with roxy (dave's counterpart) escaping using her aspect to find john, who has the ability to rewrite the timeline, mirroring the major doomed timeline from the pre-scratch universe

john is outside the universe atm, so he wouldn't be affected by going back, not like he probably would be anyways, seeing as he's no longer strictly connected to canon

Unless Aranea gets around to using her sylph powers to undoom this timeline (which she likely won't, since she's currently being strangled by HIC) then there really are no reasons for these deaths to stick, especially since universe C1 still needs to be created and it's unlikely for this session to be able to bear fruit, what with half the session's players being dead.

Oh! And if staying alive until the end of your doomed timeline allows some of your memories to stick to your alpha self then Rose, Terezi and Roxy should get some interesting developments, whereas the ghosts of all the people who died could go help with the Afterlife quest.
At least that's what I hope, since if it's not the case there really was no reason dedicate an entire flash to a doomed timeline where everybody dies forever.

EDIT: I almost forgot, this is the first Gamzee we see die. Of all the ghosts to arrive to the dream bubbles, he's probably gonna be the most important one. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being helpful for once.

And we still don't have any real evidence that he's NOT god-tier, and his death wasn't to save a friend, but out of pure hatred for him. So it might not be Just.

But the parallels to the other major doomed timeline are pretty big. John/Jane and Jade/Jake die, Dave/Roxy and Rose/Dirk manage to escape the disaster, and they're equipped to go and find John and help fix the mess. It's just now, Dave is dead, and John isn't dead, he's just outside the timeline.

Like everything else the new universe seems to be going through, it's mirroring the original events. Dave went back to save John, and now it seems like John is going to go back to save Dave.
