Thoughts about the first season of Shippuuden so far:

- I like how Sakura's strong and dependable. I'd trust her to get shit done over Naruto.
- Kakashi and Maito Gai are cool as always
- The leadup to and the actual Sasori fight is probably my favorite part so far. The way they gradually reveleaed new plot details and techniques during the fight was interesting. The chemistry between Sakura and granny is great.
- Deidara is annoying
- What god damn time period does the show take place in where carrier birds and radios are used at the same time
- Clone/replacement jutsus are such a bs copout, every time there's a "YES I GOT HIM NO WAY HE COULD'VE DODGED THAT" moment it's always either a clone or replacement
- Yes I know Naruto and Gaara are BFFs no need to do flashbacks every 5 minutes

WWI?

The original prototype manga for Naruto was weird. Konoha was actually a secluded village of spirit animals/youkai or whatever and Naruto was actually a nine-tailed fox that took human form that was tasked with going out into the regular human world. And the technology level was enough to where they had cars and guns. The equivalent, I think, would be around the 1920s or 30s.

The cop in that proto-story looked kinda old-timey, too

I wonder how much Naruto would be improved if Sasuke was completely removed.

I dunno, Naruto Vanilla was pretty cool, but when it hit Shippuden, things started getting shitty.

Shippuuden has its highs and lows, and everything that has to do with Sasuke is a low.

He and Itachi have a fucking MIND BATTLE using nothing but genjutsu. That was when it jumped the border to ridiculous.

Oh man this arc.

Finally got around to watching the kill la kill ost and by god was it magical

I love anime, especially Type-A anime.

Let's see... Favorite anime.

Kino's Journey - Short, but amazing. A must-watch.

Dennou Coil - Google Glasses the anime... before Google Glasses existed.

Kyouran Kazoku Nikki - Hard to describe, and hilarious. The main cast consists of a government agent, a catgirl, a talking lion, a battle android, a young girl with a tragic past, a flamboyantly gay man, and a jellyfish.

Slayers (seasons 1.5 - 3 only) - First anime that I watched. Loved it.

Ouran High School Host Club - Very funny reverse harem.

One Piece - Great series. Speaks for itself.

Toriko - What you would get if One Piece and Dragon Ball Z had a baby, and it grew up to be a foodie. Weird and awesome.

*reads Naruto discussion*

The original Naruto was good until the Chunin Exam arc. After Sasuke left, it seemed to lose focus and become nothing but fillers filled with very slow-paced fights. Shippuden's pacing and fight choreography are improved, so it is probably why it is more watchable than the old Naruto.

I mostly watch it because it is sandwiched between two shows that I like on Adult Swim, though.

The eighty-odd episodes remaining in the "first" Naruto series bodaciously are filler. I can't remember if the manga took a break during its timeskip or not but it definitely wasn't the year and a half-ish streak that the anime decided to go on. Personally I think it wanted to milk its popularity for awhile before continuing.

Then Shippuuden animators got reeeeeally lazy.

Also holy shit One Piece took a turn down a dark alley this week.
