Yeah but how long did it take you to get to that

Also I'm really terrible at using spells on a regular basis, and the fact that Magicka doesn't regenerate in Morrowind does not encourage me to try now.

Plus I'm still at level freaking one even after playing a couple hours and I'm not sure how exactly the best way to level myself up is.

I was level 1 for hours, eventually it sped up significantly and I found myself in situations where I was 60/10 on the way to the next level without realizing it. So I slept 6 times in a row and leveled up every time.

I recommend getting the mod that allows you to regen magicka based on your willpower, it makes a huge difference. Also, get Madd Leveler, because otherwise you have to plan out your level ups to make sure you don't miss out on attribute bonus multipliers at levelup since they're dependent on what skills you've been leveling. Madd Leveler gets rid of the bonuses and instead automatically increases your attributes whenever you raise skills that are tied to them. In case you didn't know, you can only gain levels by increasing your major and minor skills. Your misc skills do nothing towards that end.

I played the beginning of Morrowind and never touched it again, mostly because magicka didn't regenerate and I thought it glitched and thought I was an atronach somehow. I'll get the regenerating willpower mod I guess.
Also because it aged so badly and I don't have the nostalgia filter necessary to get past it like I do Oblivion.

Though it did give me an explanation as to why this Oblivion mod has such awful choice in voiceacting for its dark elf.

I'm currently about 75 hours in and speeding through the main quest. I did the same thing as with New Vegas, played the main quest up to a point and then dropped it for a long time in favor of side quests, which in Morrowind mostly means guild quests. I'm pretty sure I've still got some 50 hours to go. That is, unless I do some fan content.

I don't think it really aged that badly. Maybe you're just a casual?

I kid.

Graphically it kind of did, though not as badly relative to Oblivion (which looked amazing when it came out). But that's what modding is for.

The combat is shit but hey, that's Betheseda RPGs for ya.

Just wait for SkyWind and Skyblivion to come out. I am. I mean I own the games, but the graphics are whats reaaaaally holding me back. Even though I beat Oblivion, even then, the character faces made me go "Geeeeeeeeesh....." Voice acting was pretty good though. And even the lip syncing is better than in Skyrim, lol.

Morrowind can look fantastic when modded. Animations are obviously clunky but everything else is perfectly serviceable, certainly much better than most other games of the era.

I did take a peek at the regenerating magicka mod, but I didn't install it. I might do that the next time I play (right now I'm getting started on Ni No Kuni since I got a new TV and the resolution is finally good enough that the text is LEGIBLE).

I do have a mod that makes Khajit and Argonian run cycles smoother because wow even considering that the game is from the early 2000's I don't understand how Bethesda could make that run cycle so clunky.

I'm really looking forward to Skywind and Skyblivion too. It was the Dragonborn DLC on skyrim that made me want to play Morrowind.

I'm personally more excited for OpenMW and DaggerXL than I am for Skywind.

Never used the regen magic mod because Atronach + Breton = YOUR PUNY MAGIC MEANS NOTHING TO ME!

But you can just buy Summon Ancestral Ghost in the first town as any race.

Still a great way to replenish magic.

I think the power didn't cost mana. It's been a long while though.

If I remember, no mana cost but it did have a cooldown period. Whereas with the spell, dirt cheap to buy and cast, you could spam it.

Oh man, Morrowind enchanting is so wacky with casting spells from an item. When you cast, you do the whole hand gesture. When an item is used to cast, it fires instantly. Cue a ring that launches fireballs like a machine gun.
