That half a game is still better than most AAA games made nowdays that cost 100x more. :^)

For 3.3 million it's almost at AAA any way.

3.3 million is really cheap if we're talking standard AAA development costs. Watch_Dogs cost 68 million on dev costs alone, never mind marketing.

when Jon describes stuff like Conan the Barbarian as "objectification", he fails to account for the fact that, like the naked slave girls gathered around his feet, Conan was designed by men. That means that it's not male objectification, but rather male power fantasy.

I actually got back into watching Game Grumps when they started playing Trauma Center: Second Opinion. I've been consistently laughing and it's been a while since they've been able to make me do that.

Terra, listen to me very carefully (chopstix I think you should read this too but bear in mind that you're not part of the 'straight male' demographic, which does alter your perspective on things):

Women in all forms of media are MOST OFTEN only put in that form of media to serve as a sexual fantasy for a male audience. The woman who is only there to be the male character's prize for a job well done. The woman who is designed in clothing with her tits hanging out, acting like she'd love nothing more than to bed every man she encounters. The woman who acts aggressive and pushes men away, until it's revealed that she has some kind of sad past that MAKES her act cold and once she starts to move on she's suddenly after the man who thawed her. The crazy ex-wife who obsesses over her ex-husband because she wants him back and will tie him to a bed and threaten with violence if he doesn't go along with her. The woman who offers sexual favors when a man saves her from villains or some other disaster.
Daddy issues.

Even women who don't end up having sex in the show/game/book/whatever are treated like objects of a man's sexual desire. Any woman in said media who ISN'T attractive in men's opinions is often treated like a joke character or an untouchable.


Now, the thing with Conan the Barbarian? Big, muscly Conan, winning all of his battles and winning all the babes, too?
That is a MALE POWER FANTASY.
That is not objectification. That is not eye candy for women, the way so many women are eye candy for men. That is a male power fantasy.

Men want to BE Conan. They want to BANG the sexually objectified woman.
