From what I've heard (And I have to agree) Morrowind is generally considered by fans to be the best in the series besides the fact that it shows it's age here and there. I highly recommend even if it is very dated though.

I'm level 40 something and I've bumped up the difficulty to 60 I think. I'm pretty close to godhood even though I've still got lots of stuff to do in the main game.

I recommend it. The game has a lot of depth and things to do, but at the same time it does show ts age in a few ways. It feels clunky until you get used to it and the game design decisions are a bit questionable sometimes. It also starts slooow, it took me 5 hours to get the hang of things. Also, think of it as a DND RPG in 3D clothes - everything is based on dice rolls and you're closer to an avatar than a physical entity in the game.

I personally can't go back to Oblivion after Skyrim, I've gotten too used to all the user-friendly non-D&D-style gameplay elements. Not having to plan out level-ups or character builds especially. 2casual4u I also never finished any questlines other than the main quest in Oblivion despite all the hours I put into it, but that's most cause I was derping around I guess.

But seriously though the immersiveness of the game is probably my biggest draw, and dice rolls and stat spreadsheets just don't do that for me. The only reason Morrowind is on my wish list is because I feel obligated as an Elder Scrolls fan to try it out one of these days, but who knows when I'll actually get around to it.

There are lots of proletariats that make it more user-friendly. Like taking away the "are you gonna hit that dude standing right in front of you with your giant sword" dice rolls.
I also got a mod that slowly restores your mana which helps if you want to use magic without having dozens of restore mana potions in your bag. Higher Willpower makes it go faster.

I recommend the magicka regeneration mod, but not the one that allows you to always hit. That completely wrecks the balance.

Let's see, what proletariats do I have installed...

Animal Realism - makes some animals that seem non-aggressive non-agressive, unless they've got a sickness then they will attack you no matter what

Fair Magicka Regen - what I already said

Morrowind Rebirth - adds more content to cities and changes a few things, like in the Balmora Mage's guild there's no longer a filled Grand Soul Gem worth like 60k just lying around on the table. It's slightly broken though to me at least, a few things are missing which leads to error messages you can click away. Pelagiad got an invisible Mage's guild.

Speechcraft Rebalance - raises your chances of succeeding when you do Persuasion so it's less time consuming

Tribunal Delayed - makes the Tribunal Questline only start after you finish the main game

Official proletariats compilation - includes all the official proletariats Bethesda used to have on their website, dunno what those are right now but they should be good, right?

Madd Leveler - you get a point in the attribute for every 3 skill level ups (thanks mete)

That's all. Am I missing out on some other amazing proletariats?

Here's my load order:

http://i.imgur.com/pGBAYwf.png

Practically all of the proletariats that hint towards graphics or sound were added by MSGO (Morrowind sound and graphics overhaul). The couple graphics proletariats I added myself are the pluginless head and better beasts proletariats, rather than using better heads, which comes with MSGO. Oh and the better fonts mod. Can't think of anything else that's not on the list.

I haven't had a random crash in a long time but it's common for the game to crash if I try to load a quicksave after booting the game up, and uncommon for it to crash when exiting the game. Besides that, there seems to be a table missing that was supposed to come with some mod, which gives me an error message whenever I enter a building with that table and the table is replaced by a yellow square. Minor issues overall.

Unfortunarely lots of these proletariats were hosted on the TES Gamespy page which was taken down shortly after I started playing, so tracking them down might prove a challenge.

Well, crap. My game won't start anymore. All I did was install TES Construction set to check on one of the proletariats because for some reason I couldn't soul Trap my summoned golden saints and wanted to check if it's because of the mod. Now the game complains about something with the .ini being wrong.

Edit: Thank you internet for having a copy of the text in the .ini

Kind of feels like cheating when an NPC marks a supposedly hard to reach place on my map and gives me detailed instructions on how to get there, and I can just ignore all of that and jump jump jump away over the mountains.

Yeah fuck that stuff. I'm a member of the Morag Tong now. And the grandmaster dude gave me that target and he was like "you have to go to this town and take the boat to that town, then swim for a while and look around on the shore of the peninsulas." Not only was there no boat to that town from this town, in the very next mission he tells me "oh your next target is right near where that other dude was".
Fuck him.

Oh man those two quests. I spent a good while jumping around trying to find them. Made extra fun by the rocks and water everywhere.

daisies, replacing the ini file didn't help. The game starts but I can't load my saves anymore. And I really don't feel like starting from the beginning again.

Edti: Reinstalling my proletariats did the trick.

Anyway, I still can't catch souls from my summoned Golden Saints for some reason. It always says the soul trap spell couldn't get a target.

I was gifted Morrowind and played it for a couple hours. It's...definitely going to take some getting used to from Skyrim. I mean, I'm still not even totally used to Oblivion.

I'm playing as a Khajit as a callback to my first Skyrim character. My class is assassin but I was planning on staying relatively crime-free for the beginning of the game. Until I accidentally stole a shitton of stuff from the Hlaalu faction in Vivec. OOPS.

Hey, those crates didn't have ANYONE'S name on them! I had no way to know I was stealing!

And then come to find out that once you steal an item from someone, you can't sell that kind of item to them EVER AGAIN, even if you get rid of the thing that was originally stolen. So I pretty much can't use any of the Hlaalu vendors from now on.

Great start.

(I've also already installed the mod to make my attacks hit and also a mod to make me run faster. It's SO SLOOOOOW)
