This Ganondorf is very Demise looking.

With The Imprisoned in the game, I wonder if they're going to touch on that at all.

I had a longer post ready but my browser crashed so here's what I can remember.

Watching the Direct and writing down thoughts:

- The graphics leave a lot to be desired. The character models are okay for the most part but the small enemies are badly animated and look ridiculous in large groups. The environments are unpolished and empty and the textures and effects are poor.
- Throughout the whole video I have not seen a single normal enemy even attempt to attack. They just stand there and watch while Link walks so close to them he actually pushes them out of his way (at 2:07, notably). Even worse at 7:01, where Link is completely surrounded and practically immobile for several seconds.
- Giant enemy arthropod, attack its weak point for massive damage.
- You'd think Darunia's dance animation would have improved since 1998.
- Naturally, Agitha's attacks provide constant pantyshots, as if there had ever been any doubts as to why they included a textbook lolita in a fighting game. Fuck you, whoever made this.
- So that's the name of this Final Fantasy reject on the posters. Yup, practical outfit there, and she definitely fits in LOZ's tradition of ridiculous asymetric multi-layered-yet-revealing clothes. 'She happens to be one of the key characters in the story' Yes please, more paper-thin half-naked prancing winking vocaloid '''characters'''.
- Yes, replay the bombchu explosion in slo-mo so we can admire the pixels in the low-res fire and notice how the rock instantly disappears.

After the latest E3 I said HW looked interesting, well scratch that. It's a shameless cheap cash-in fueled by nostalgia and fanservice, the gameplay looks unchallenging and repetitive, the voices are grating and the graphics are laughable.

Yeah, I've been noticing that. What's the point of having an enemy in a game like this if it doesn't even attack?

Oh, god, I actually missed that the first time I watched the direct. What the fuck, Koei?

Well, to be fair, we already knew her name, and her outfit isn't nearly as ridiculous as Cia's getup. Plus, there have been a good number of scantily-clad or midriff-flaunting women in the series in the past, like the Gerudo, the Great Fairies, and that topless mermaid in Link's Awakening. But that out of the way, yeah, I'm not too pop flyin' with this character design either. I shouldn't be so quick to judge Lana seeing as how the game hasn't come out yet and I don't know much of anything about what she's actually like, but it's pretty clear that Koei just wanted to inject their own cliched anime ditz into this game.

Yeah, no idea why they thought it was a good idea to play that again in slow-motion. Then again, I'm having a hard time comprehending most of Nintendo's decisions regarding the Zelda series in recent years.

That pretty much describes A Link Between Worlds. So naturally, this game will also be praised by everyone and called the best Zelda game ev4r.

I'm honestly a bit curious how much involvement Nintendo actually has on Hyrule Warriors, as they're supposedly making a different Zelda game that goes that fits with the other main titles. And isn't Hyrule Warriors meant to be a celebration of the Zelda series or something? If that's the case, appealing to nostalgia and fanservice is most likely a given. I do hope the teams working on it don't mess it up immensely either way.

Fi, Midna, and Lana's voices are absolutely terrible though.

Saying it because it bears repeating:

This is NOT a Zelda game. This is a Dynasty Warriors game with Zelda characters and elements. There have been a few early reviewers complaining that it's not a true Zelda game, well no duh genius.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with Dynasty Warriors, but the little enemies aren't really there for anything other than: A) to remind you that you're fighting a war, so it helps keep up the narrative sense of scale; B ) giving you an opportunity to whack lots of guys at once and feel cool. The only real enemies are the sub bosses and bosses, and the point of the game isn't really to kill everything, but to capture checkpoints and complete objectives. The little guys are just there for show.

It's worth mentioning that there's usually difficulty levels involved, and that on harder difficulties the little guys will get shots in. Usually this isn't important for you, but for your allies who are getting beat up off screen. ("Impa's in trouble!" and such messages.) It's likely this footage is coming from easier difficulties so they can set up the shots they want.

I'll concede on a lot of the other stuff you wrote, though. Especially Team Ninja's usual sexualized shennanigans.

I feel Lana is really unnecessary
She could just be Saria honestly
I mean I'm not too mad about it, I'll just not play as her because she just doesn't interest me

Brawl was a celebration of video-games and it didn't have to pander to perverts, and the nostalgia was more of an anthology than nostalgia imho, whereas HW strikes me as 'Remember when Zeldas were great? Buy this texture pack'.

Yeah that's a given, I don't mind that. Actually I'm glad this is only a licensed spinoff, it'd be revolting if Nintendo did it themselves.

I'm not familiar at all. That's less dumb than I thought, but it still sounds wrong. There's just no satisfaction when you kill them after the first 5 minutes because you can just spam attacks and take 5 seconds to cast your 'cool' animations without worrying about getting hit. It reminds me of FF XIII, where they removed mana so that players could always cast the most 'impressive' spells. Watching a character do shiny things isn't impressive if it's a regular sight, it's just mundane.

Honestly the only thing about this game that has truly gotten me hyped is Midna, but she's not enough for me to spend ~$50 on a game I'll probably enjoy for like ten minutes.

I am super pumped for this game, I think it looks fun and all of the extra stuff is interesting to me. Sure some of the stuff in it is bad (Dear Nintendo, get as far away from Team Ninja as you can) but I think it will be fun and that is enough for me to buy it.

At least she's not underage? I don't know, Zero Suit Samus in Brawl didn't bug me. Her outfit might be perceived as fanservice, but it's something that's practical and designed to be worn under her power suit. It also fits her fighting style. Also she wasn't particularly sexualized; just compare it to SSBU, where her shoulders and hips are always dislocated so we can see her breasts and her design was altered to make her a living doll with stilettos. That is pure unforgivable fanservice.
Unless you were talking about that particular cutscene, then yeah it's a bit too much, but as far as I remember that's the only time the camera lingers on her like that, and she never poses for no particular reason. The game takes her seriously as a fighter, at the very least. Agitha is just a deluded lolita who writes poems for bugs, she has no real reason to be there other than to attract other deluded otakus, and Lana is just as plain and gratuitous as every other obligatory jrpg schoolgirl.

Honestly im not im not really miffed about the graphics because the dynasty warriors series never had a history of great graphics anyway.
