What's up with the Drakekeepers with the big hammers? They attack fast and seem to be able to combo almost indefinitely while having funky hitboxes as well as good tracking. It seems like such a weird jump in difficulty that I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

you're right. they have a consistent combo and seem to never have a resting period.

use any form of ranged option available to you to fight them, or a fast weapon + rolls. our big weapons < their big hammer

Even with rolling I barely have time to get an attack in if I take a faster weapon than the Halberd. If I do beat the first one by playing pretty much perfectly, I usually screw up at the second one.

I had someone invade the crypt and appear down in the pit where the bells and statues are while I was standing at the edge of said pit looking down at him. He walked around some, threw a lightning spear or two, but was otherwise pretty patient since they knew I'd have to go down there.

Then I remembered something. I opened my inventory, found the Seed of the Tree of Giants, and used it. About ten seconds later I hear GONG GONG GONG GONG GONG echoing and shortly after the big INVADER BANISHED message popped up.

I'm up to Tseldora now and I think that I'll delve deeper into Faith (22 atm for lightning spears) like a true man of God and get myself a black knight ultra greatsword for that STR and FTH scaling. Lightning spears have proven extremely useful so great ones should be even better.

They're honestly just a really poorly made enemy. I just run by them every time honestly.

Let me tell you a secret not a lot of people know. There's a way to get up there without that bridge for invaders. It's something I never knew until someone invaded me and unwittingly showed me with an unfortunate tumble to his death.

because have mercy! exists

also doing a SL1 run of DS1, all my attempts before have ended with me stuck due to losing a ton of souls and being fucked over, but i've finally gotten shit down, even got past ornstein and smough on my second try, alone too! i have bodaciously never beaten this boss alone i always summon because i hate them it's never been worth my time.

my only issue now is ugghhh i have to GRIND and get shit for weapons, because i'm planning on doing up to NG++, and it's better to do it now before everything can one shot me but ugghhhhhhhhhhhh i need lightning and fire reinforced clubs and maybe a raw one and then i need all three for battle axe and UUUGGGHHH

Joined the rat covenant, having duels in the tomb of saints is pretty fun. I'd like to know what weapon that one guy was using though, one hit and I was completely staggered and he got two hits in every time while I couldn't do anything.

Rat Covenant is so much fun with Chameleon. Very few people recognize the fact that there's not supposed to be a stone rat, or torch, next to the fountain.

I had a few interesting duels. One took nearly 10 minutes against a guy who was faster than me so he just ran circles around the room until I managed to beat him. Then I summoned him again and managed to land a hit that caused him to fly to the center of the room, where the hole is. I didn't have much success with lightning spears so I attempted to run upstairs through the boss room and drop down to where he was, but the fog blocked me and then I got a message that he was banished anyway, so he probably fell down.

Then there were a couple of guys who clearly had no idea what was going on, they just stood there dumbfounded and died right after.

if you stagger a person with a hit, 90% of the time your second swing will hit as well. if the first swing was a running swing, your second and third follow up swings will almost always hit. any swings after these will almost never hit because 90% of the time they dodge roll.

however, if they decide to try to swing at you instead of dodging, your next two swings will always hit if you're still swinging and manage to hit them before they hit you.

Remember that part about weapons losing durability while moving through a corpse? Here's the best bit: it's directly tied to your framerate. So someone playing the game at 60 fps loses durability twice as fast or more as people playing on consoles. I'm wading my way through Drangleic Castle right now and I'm doing me best to make sure my UGS makes it through from one bonfire to another.

Tying game logic into framerate really needs to go.

It's really more than likely a bug, just a bug that hasn't become relevant until the PC version.

With all the complaints it's sure to get fixed.
