Anyone recommend a good Gundam to build for someone with no cheddar or knowledge of Gundam?

You could start with the first Gundam.

RX-78 Gundam HGUC 1/144

^Best place to start, there's a modernized "G30" version that has tons of surface detail.

Grab starter set, it comes with a marker and the HGUC Gundam, G30 version, and it's even in colors that mimic the original anime's art style. All you'll need after that is a knife and some sprue cutters.

If you have the choice get the G30th version instead. Much better quality and theres a starter kit that comes with a line marker too.

No one told me of that when I started last year.

Ok, I've managed to stop my common sense telling me that I'm in way over my head with this stuff and I'm now looking at this thing. Will I need anything else besides what's included in the box? Also, how often do they usually restock?

All I'm really looking to do is try it out and have something pretty for my self so I don't really want to spend that much cheddar, because like I said before, I don't have any.

(I think my common sense may have a point on this one...)

A good knife/scalpel/exacto knife/spruce cutter.

If you're really getting into it, spray paint.

/Toy/'s gunpla guide is a great read for beginners. I'd recommend you check it out.

That's a good guide.

So I bought a 1/100 Galbaldy (prolly no grade but who cares it was 800 yen), and 1/144 HG Rick Dias in red. Total of 1700 yen, so about 17 dollars on HLJ.
Now we play the waiting game until they get restocked.

Superman's shoulders look a bit funky tho.

Hey MC, what do you think of the HGUC Guncannon? /toy/ seems adamant that it's godawful, but they also think the hguc rx-78 is terrible and I have that kit. It's fairly dang decent, nowhere near new quality though. Is /toy/ just exaggerating?

it's honestly not that bad. But being the first hguc means it has some quirks. The hands are closer to the ones the really old ng hands and seam lines everywhere. It's better than most of the wing hgs tho.

DID SOMEONE SAY GUNCANNON.

LISTEN HERE MISSY WERE TALKING ABOUT HGUC #1
So its a big hollow kit that feels like a toy but its actually really nice. My biggest complaint is the feet because they dont really....have a flat surface. BUT everything else is pretty grand ESPECIALLY for the price and they give you a wide variety of hand options. Its odd, it comes with the old 1/144 victory line rubber hands but it takes its own special kind with a peg instead of a ball. I would definitely recommend one though because it doesnt take much love to make look good. Just those fucking feet.....

That thing looks huge. Is it 1/100 or 1/60?

Also I'm still waiting for HLJ to restock the stuff I ordered. Does it always take that long?
