Honestly, this has all gone downhill since everyone threw a fit over whether to get Eevee or focus on Lapras. People came up with political posters to convince other people why one option was better than the other, and when the majority ended up picking up Eevee, rather than actually try to get a Water Stone, the people that were for Lapras actively tried to sabotage getting Vaporeon by either wasting all of the valuable cheddar or getting another type of stone to force Vaporeon off the table. At that point, the stream would be forced to go to the PC and try depositing something in order to make room for Lapras (who, honestly, would probably be released or boxed by the people rustled at what happened to Eevee, accomplishing nothing but having a pissing match).
Releasing Abby and Jay were accidents (though there were people adamant about getting rid of Eevee), but the stream wouldn't have even needed to go to the PC after getting Eevee if people had tried cooperating rather than being petty.
Basically, people ruined the fun of twitch because personal opinion disputes, and now we can't even get people to try cooperating to get through a maze because they're done with helping out the people who "fucked it up" (whether the releasing or picking up Eevee or getting the wrong stone). Even when setbacks came up before, people might've been mad, but they didn't have grudges over it, like when the stream fought for half an hour to heal in Vermillion so they'd respawn there, only to die and end up back at Cerulean. It was tiresome to get back, but people didn't ragequit over it.
Also, goddamn the people who feel the game has to be played with certain choices made. Okay yeah, you had a Jolteon in your first red playthrough and it's your favorite Eeveelution. Doesn't mean you can just decide for everyone else what to get, and besides which, with how things are set up, even if people tried for Jolteon they could miss. Accept the fact that the choices in the game aren't always going to reflect how you would play.
Democracy/Anarchy might take some of the fun out of it, but I think the players need to cool off a bit (or get driven down to a more manageable number) for progress to happen. Later on maybe once the novelty wears off a bit, they can switch it back to the old way.
