What's going on is that someone coded a GB emulator to accept twitch chat as input ("left" inputs left, "start" inputs start, etc)
It's been going on for the past three days, and they've already gotten past Lt. Surge but they've been stuck on Route 9 for like six hours

At this rate it probably won't be finished until like late May

Still though it's really interesting that this is possible.

Someone set up the same game, but it's an RNG playing it with no other inputs.

It's gotten two badges so far with a Level 46 Charmeleon and NOTHING ELSE. It had a Magikarp but it managed to deposit it.
