Okay so do I stop watching the show altogether until a writer who isn't a piece of human shaped waste takes over, or should I slog through more poorly written plot devices and inconsistent characters with massive plot holes every other line

But no, bow ties are cool.

There was a big show of Eleven taking off his bow tie before he regenerated so that joke is gone. Thank god.

I actually thought that was a pretty decent sendoff to Matt Smith. It was certainly way better than Tennant's sendoff, and a lot better than most of the Christmas specials.

I'll agree that it was a great sendoff, but it was an awful christmas special, and it was too much a real episode.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "too much a real episode."

It was a progression in the storyline, unlike the one with the skyfish or "The Doctor, the ____, & the Wardrobe" where it was telling a fun little story for christmas.

but it was like the fact that is was a christmas special took a backseat because gotta regenerate

It is when the episode itself is complete and utter garbage.

I haven't seen it yet and apparently there's vastly differing opinions on it.

I'll admit it ties up the loose plot threads rather well (for the most part) but I maintain that he shouldn't have had to do that and instead have tied them up when they were actually relevant.

This sums up my feelings on it rather well.

Those are all completely valid points. This episode is still kind of a guilty pleasure for me. Sorry, but I just can't hate it. I still wish Moffat left with Smith, but this was still a hell of a lot better than The End of Time.

I do. I dunno about these other people. I think they might have a few complaints about its head writer.
