The upcoming anime Space Dandy from studio BONES and director Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop) is confirmed to air on Toonami starting January 4th at 11:30 PM. What's interesting is that this is before it actually airs in glorious Nippon. And also that the Toonami block is being extended by a half hour.

I don't keep up with animu much anymore so I assumed Space Dandy was already airing there.

I wonder if it airing in the States first means they're expecting it to be more of a hit in the west than in Japan.

Well, things like Trigun were apparently ridiculously huge over here while in Japan it was more of a standard following in Japan.

Toonami has acquired Naruto Shippuden and will be premiering that on the same day as Space Dandy.

Well that's one way to cut down on the years it would have taken to get there regularly.

The movies for December have been confirmed: Akira, Summer Wars, FMA Conqueror of Shambala and Trigun Badlands Rumble. Pretty good lineup, I think.

I missed the first minute so I missed the hyperspace thing, but still Akira is great even with the censored nipples and the FUCK YOU on the wall rewritten to BUCK YOU. Hearing some of the things in English instead of subtitles gives it something special, like the smart-booty/ sarcastic "Hey, where's the teacher, we wanna learn a vocation!"
Plot is still crazy though.

Anyway, from what I've heard, Summer Wars is Digimon but not and also awkward family moments. So I look forward to something that isn't grimdark next week.
