I convinced my mom to start reading World War Z and she's liking it so far.

i finished the crucible by arthur miller and it was quite good but at times i found the dialogue hard to follow but i think that's because i'm not used to reading plays
i've also been reading a lot of the anne of green gables books and if you like victorian canadian comedies then i'd recommend it

So I read the original book of The Princess Bride and it's great, I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves the movie

I'm reading The Fifty Year Sword by Mark Z Danielewski and I'm only like a few pages in so I can't really judge it at this point

I feel like it might be more difficult to read than House of Leaves so far though

The Princess Bride is one of my most favourite books ever. The better scenes make love to my brain like nothing else.

lol what's a book
is it one of those weird paper-flippy things

Just kidding, I am (or, was) an avid reader.
I personally enjoyed the Ender's Game series of books by Orson Scott Card. It touches on pretty much everything and what it could be in the I-don't-know-how-far future, but it's mostly about some war between Earth and aliens and this kid who's being trained to fight in it. It can make you think, if you want to think about it - it's a pretty engaging story otherwise, and there about four or five books after it - and a "parallel" series from the viewpoint of a different character. It's pretty cool. You should pick it up and read it.
Like, right now.

And forget about the movie; I've never seen it, but it doesn't look like it does the book justice.

Don't read Xenocide or Children of the Mind though. You could, but you shouldn't.

I checked out the books, and even if Card wasnt the scum of humanity, which he is, his books arent even that good. I dont get why his work gets such credit.

Well, that's your opinion, I suppose... though I think saying that Card is the scum of humanity is going a bit too far...
But, we're not here to have an intellectual discussion and/or flame war on our respective opinions of a books series and its author, so I'm just going to slink out of here and pretend I never brought up the topic in the first place.

No, thats not right, my dislike of Card as a person probably colors my perception of his work. Obviously there HAS to be something there Im not seeing

So I read The Hunger Games. Not my favorite book, but I think I can see why it's so popular. I did tear up a little when Rue died (spoiler tag just in case?), and all the stuff that happened around that. I don't usually cry easily so that stood out. It makes things that happened in Catching Fire when I watched it make more sense looking back at it.

Thats arguably more realistic in the settings he tends to write about.

Fifty Year Sword was really short but pretty good

Nowhere near as good as House of Leaves but still pretty rad
