Hate those squid things when they come in the blow-you-up variety. Also monkeys.

Getting close to the end of Act II with my new Anarchy Duelist, he has a rare in almost every slot. The other Duelist I have is probably going to be scrapped since I underestimated how valuable Life nodes are. Going dual wield with axes/swords with Cleave for groups and Dual Strike for uniques/bosses and Hatred aura for more damage. By the time I hit max level I'll be able to run 7 auras at the same time.

Started this game as a Witch.

It's really a really great game system.

Found my first rogue Exile leading up to the Ancient Pyramid. He did some sort of frost hand from the ground and a few other things. Very sturdy too, I spammed Dual Strike and it only knocked off a bit of health each time compared to stomping elites in about five seconds per the usual.

In Act 3 now.

Completed Standard a few days ago. It was a fun ride and I think even people less likely to get addicted to item and skill progression would enjoy the game for what it is, even if it is a little short. Have done a bit of Cruel now and have only died once so far (getting frozen caught me off guard). I found I have pretty good synergy with my Templar friend who I'm playing the game with. Our auras stack and greatly enhance both our offences and defences. And I'm finally decked in full rare gear that has stats as well as sockets.

Not sure if I'll go beyond the first playthrough. This server is less than a week old and the economy is already fucking crazy. Gear drops are plentiful, but with random stats, and even if the names are good it still has a range for each one so there can be a "weakest" version and "strongest" version of the exact same thing, sockets are random too, and apparently to live in Merciless mode you need +20% quality gems that can only be gotten by selling other gems with +quality in batches that add up to +20 so you can get a single crystal that ups the quality of the gem of your choice by...1.

Yep. Random gem drops, random +quality (or no quality at all) on them, you need to sell in batches that add up to 20 for one crystal, and that one crystal adds +1 quality to the gem of your choice.

I get that it's supposed to be a grindfest like Diablo was but running the same thing over and over again is what burned me out on World of Warcraft, and that was a hell of a lot prettier than Path of Exile.

I haven't really investigated the economy at all but it's anything like Guild Wars you can just get 17-19% quality items for a fraction of the price and pretty much the same effect.

I could explore in Wow, discover the story through wandering around, I can't do that with PoE and the camera angle is designed to surprise me with hordes of enemies. Not a complaint, just how it is. I wish I could find out more about the story, since Wraeclast is pretty awesome, but instead I have to have it spoonfed on the single conflict happening with me versus the Empire by completing quests.

Also PoE players are a little more strict on their currency exchanges, since the items are the currency. There's a whole hierarchy that is...well it's the Mannconomy from TF2 to be honest. Exact conversion rates and all.

Oh I thought you were speaking strictly visually.

I don't know if I'll continue playing if I hit a point where I have to start grinding, but so far I'm still advancing rapidly with ease so I'm going to keep going for now.

Maybe some day I'll stop RIPing. That day is not today, however.

Made it to level 70 on Nemesis, Infernal Blow duelist. Gonna start doing meeps soon. Excitement!
