Some guy in Kiloude City Pokemon Center tells you all about your Pokemon's potential.

Nah man, I'm done with that. Once I get my Masuda shiny I'll see what it has but I'll use it anyway, cause shiny Ampharos.

If you're spending over 400 hours breeding Pokemon in X and Y, you're either insanely unlucky, have super anal standards ("gotta have the right nature, be shiny, perfect IV's, the right characteristic, the harder to find gender, and the hidden ability"), doing it wrong/the long and painful way, or you're breeding a dex worth of the bastards.

This generation has made it insanely easy to get good pokemon easily, provided you know how to do it, get a pretty good Ditto, and game the odds a bit to get what you want. It's enough to be work, but not enough to be weeks on end of frustration on one Pokemon with no results.

Well it's pretty hard to get a good Ditto, since you can't breed them. You just have to catch a bunch and hope some of them have more than 2 perfect IVs naturally.

It's ironic. The pokemon that's used the most for IV breeding can't be IV bred.

yeah, but a good Ditto isn't a necessity, it just makes things so much nicer down the road, so still, if you want things to be nicer, some investment is made.

Still not as terrible a system as it used to be where it was sheer investment with minimal results.

What would make breeding super easy and nice would be if the offspring got at least the average value of the IVs of the parents.

So 17/22/0/23/4/31 and 11/27/8/15/21/31 would result in something with at least

14/25/4/19/13/31

It would make it so much faster to get good offspring instead of having the chance of the parents both having 31 in a stat and the child having 2 in the same stat because it didn't get passed down.

Fuck dumping 400+ hours into creating the perfect Pokemon; I'll sometimes catch/hatch between 10 -12 Pokemon of one type and then train the one with the best nature/stats, but that's as far as I'll go.

IV training is a step too far for me - plus I don't really believe you can ever predict how a battle/potential battle will pan out enough to make that much effort worthwhile; It only takes one bad matchup and all your IV/EV training becomes meaningless.

I know they've released the patch for the save issue, but - god damn - Lumiose City is hella buggy.

While rollerskating I got stuck behind a couple who were talking inanely about something or other - I bodaciously could not break away from them until I used the D-Pad to walk instead of rollerskate.

I don't like how you have to re-tap the analogue stick or D-Pad when you leave a shop or go through a doorway - also the change in camera angle means I occasionally accidentally re-enter a shop or doorway because the controls reverse.

Lumiose City generally feels botched/poorly playtested.

I started playing X yesterday. I'm wondering if I simply didn't notice since it's not a move I usually used, but it's incredibly odd that I can't use Stun Spore on a Pikachu or gras type. Did they change that in this generation, so that electric Pokemon can't be paralyzed anymore and gras types can't be affected by gras type status moves, like Leech Seed?

Pokemon Ami feels kind of weird too, especially making faces. Sometimes my Pokemon want to make some with me, sometimes not - and if it does, it usually doesn't recognize what I'm doing, heh.

Electric types can't be paralyzed, and grass types aren't affected by spore moves.

and everyone has trouble with pokemon-amie
