You are only going for 4 IVs total, yes? First, destiny knot passes down 5 IVs, and the chance of it choosing not to pass down an non-IVd stat is 2/6 and choosing not to pass down a stat you wanted is 4/6. From 2/6, we divide by 8 for the 3 non-matching IVs, or 2/48, around 4.17%. On the 4/6 side, there is a 1/4 chance it didn't pass down the one they shared and a 3/4 chance it didn't pass down one of the other 3. In both cases there's a 1/32 chance you randomly generate that number anyway. 1/1536 for the first case and 3/512 for the second. When we add all these percents together, we get 37/768, or a 4.8% chance of success.
I would recommend taking a baby that gets both of ditto's IVs and another one of the other parent's and going incest for a higher chance.

I tried to get a shiny with the fishing method thing but I'm too tired to stick with it for long enough and not drop the rod when I get anywhere near the chance of catching a shiny.

Seems like the past few days all I've been doing is pawning off Skrelp on the GTS, planting and trying to mutate berries - and also skrewing around with various methods of trying to get shinies.

I need to play this game properly, level up some of my Pokemon and beat some more gyms - as it is I have to spend around a half hour SUPER TRAINING(!) Pokemon before I can use them/start training them.

I have got some cool Pokemon off the GS though - I got a Japanese Ditto and a Japanese female Torchic with Speed Boost - I'm gonna use my Japanese Torchic and Tyrunt in the game instead of for breeding stock - they have pretty good natures and stats - it's just that I have no idea how to read the Japanese nicknames their original owners have given them.

It could be that they have really stupid/derogatory nicknames and I'd never know.

That's the problem with probability - you can roll a die 100 times and never get a six, or you can roll a six on your first try.

Try changing up your parent Pokemon or introduce some of the offspring into the mix - iirc my shiny Snivy may have came from an offspring/parent mix.

Well I'm using a Japanese Ditto for the Masuda method. I did just rearrange the boxes and I have like, 14 Female Froakies. Should I just train them up and use her instead of Ditto?

Pick the one with the best stats, train it up to level ten/eleven and start generating eggs again.

Couldn't hurt to try - and it'll give you a moment of respite.


Obviously bear in mind that you need a pairing from different regions for the Masuda method to work - so either keep using the Japanese Ditto as the other partner, or another Pokemon from the same egg group but a different region.

A friend of mine has Eevees in his safari, so unless you need one with a specific nature I can catch you one

It'll just turn out that I'm color blind and I have nothing but shiny Froakies but I can't tell the difference.

Btw, Keen Eye ability makes evasion raising moves by the enemy useless now.
