So I joined the cat fuckers and man oh man am I brutally awful at PvP

I think I managd to kill one person out of like a dozen yesterday (though in my defense most of them were dickbags who spammed backstabs and sunbro phantoms and shit)

PvP is a whole new level of rage inducement

Reasons:

1. Latency

2. Gankers

3. Hackers

4. It actually takes skill

CoD fanboys would shit themselves if they were thrown into Dark Souls PvP

Whenever a CoD fanboy gets into Dark Souls pvp you either get a ganker or a modder.

Shouldn't PC Dark Souls at least have some protection against hackers? It's on Steam, why is VAC not being used?

It uses GFWL for online.

What the point of having team mates if you're not allowed to use them.

I personally like the system of not being able to summon people that are too far above or behind you in SL. It makes it so that you don't get a phantom that's completely overpowered most of the time (the bosses are easy enough in co-op as it is), and you won't get someone who's completely unprepared for what you need to do.

i've done things where i make a little arena with prism stones in the one nice pvp spot in the burg, and then just summon as many people and phantoms as i can, and people just fight it out one by one

it can be easily ruined if people start ganging up on each other but i can desummon people and any acting up red phantoms just made a really bad fucking decision but usually it's gone surprisingly well

Acting up red phantoms? Isn't the point of being a red phantom to kill the other guy?

that's the point of everyone who is in PvP, you know, as the nature of it being PvP

But "civilized" fights, where you obey kind of a loose set of rules, are not uncommon. The best fights aren't the ones where you spam backstabs or use cheap tricks, it's the ones where you're both on equal footing. Usually just a bow kind of signals that. You bow to someone, it's basically saying "okay hey, i see you, you see me, this is gonna be as fair as dark souls gets"

A few times, you even get these with people who have summons, where the summons will go one-on-one with the phantom, and if the phantom wins, he fights the host. Sometimes the host just decides to fight. USUALLY the phantom is allowed to heal in-between, in my experience. That's basically what we were doing.

also phantoms can fight other phantoms, red invasion phantoms can fight red summon phantoms, things like that.

i think cat phantoms can't fight darkmoons but that's only based on my honestly rather short experience as a forestbro.

Okay you lost me at spamming back stabs. I get the rest but what, you're not allowed to keep backstabbing people? From ym experience it's a handy way of kill them.

I'm fine with a host and a phantom teaming up to try and kill me, especially if they're just going through the level. Sometimes that's fun.
The problem is when they just camp and wait for invaders and spam healing items and do nothing but circle around for backstabs, like the fuckers in the forest.

But at the same time my favourite thing to do is kill gankers on my mage/obsidian greatsword build.
