Brandon Sanderson's The Stormlight Archives: Way of Kings is an amazing ride of a fantasy books. It's some classic fantasy literature that really feels like a world is opening up before you and I am very glad to have read it. Now get me a sequel, please.

harry potter marathon update: knocked out the second book in like...bodaciously 5 hours or so last weekend

already halfway through azkaban and i've only had one lunch break and about an hour while kyle was cooking last night to read. god daisies.

edit: finished goblet of fire. not sure of actual hours spent reading but it was spaced out over about 5 days

i really wish they'd get a dark arts teacher that doesn't end up being evil or has to run away after that one year u___u

Newest Skulduggery Pleasant book is out and it is glorious.
The series is clearly getting darker with every book now.

So now that I'm done with A Song of Ice & Fire for now, I went back to reading Drizzt books. Apparently the one where I left off was "The Silent Blade," but it could also be called "PTSD: Forgotten Realms Edition."

Now that I've read World War Z, I can really see how they wasted the source material on the movie. I enjoyed both, but the book had a lot of good things to offer that would've been awesome to see, if only the Battle of Yonkers.

Wasted? The movie was UNRECOGNIZABLE, it was just a crappy desperate cash grab they tacked a famous name on. How hard would it have been to just make it a mockumentary?

Every time I watch a movie adaption that fucks up the source material, I get furious. As in, "wish I could watch the producers, financers, directors and screenwriters be torn apart by wild dogs" furious. Its one thing to make a pragmatic adaption when the source is too dense to pack into a two hour movie, like Watchmen did, and another entirerly to grab a license just so you'll have a brand name to tack on your shitfest of a movie you know no one will watch otherwise. Its a fucking bait and switch scam!
