Mako is a boyfriend, but he's also a cop now, so that's something. Let's give Bolin a few episodes before he's judged. He's kind of...
...out of his element...

Looks like Korra and Mako do have some troubles seeing as he seems unable to support her in any meaningful way.

He can redirect lightning, that should be enough.

the idea they seem to be going for is that korra is currently kind of a bitch and the whole deal of learning the spiritual side of bending is going to stop that bitchiness

so far though it seems like it's doing better than the last season

Yesssss it looks like I'm on to something: I really liked this new episode, and I probably wouldn't have if they couldn't get through all that fast, murky set-up in the first two episodes. Even some of the character problems, like Bolin being too much comic relief and Korra being pissy at everyone, somehow found their way here. Also, I loved hearing about some of Aang's less flattering parenting abilities, I was surprised to get this more three dimensional view of him despite his lack of physical presence. Looking forward to this new season now more than ever.

Poor Aang never got to rest. I suppose there's a reason he died young for an Avatar.

I do like that Korra is starting to learn that straight up violence isn't how to be a good Avatar. The bit with her taking out the assassins as non-violently as possible was really cool and it did show that she at least has the capacity to learn.

I hadn't thought of that. That's a very nice thing to catch!

the airbending bit especially worked, because she didn't just punch it at them, she actually bent the air and caught them in that tapestry thing in a really aang like manner

it really does seem like they're working towards fixing the individual character issues

Well, looks like that progress Galaxy Man was talking about is going a bit backwards now. Holding a dude's head inside Naga's jaws seems a bit too extreme, even for Korra.

On a different note, this series has the most adorable animals ever put to animation. All we need now is a polar dog puppy and I'll be reduced to a squeeing pool of jelly.

I think I can let the Naga thing slide. Use of fear in place of pain is still an improvement.
I did like the necklace, not really Bolin's color, though.
