Whoops, edited it slightly to make it less attractive to read it.

Or maybe more attractive, I don't know. :psyduck:

If there's one thing that bugs me about Dream Team it's the fact that saveblocks still exist despite the game giving you the ability to save anywhere you want.

Until I beat the story I was under the assumption the save-anywhere stuff was disabled in Hard Mode.
It isn't.

My only guess is to remind people to save because usually saveblocks appear before something important happens

It's subtle but it's better than
"MARIO
LUIGI
THIS LOOKS PRETTY TOUGH
YOU BETTER SAVE YOUR GAME
YOU KNOW HOW TO SAVE RIGHT

TAP THE "SAVE" ICON IN THE UPPER-RIGHT CORNER OF THE TOUCH SCREEN"

Yeah, pretty much save blocks exist before hard puzzles, advancements in plot, and boss fights.

Not that it really matters because you can redo fights automatically if you lose...

beat the game last night! safe to say that this was the best M&L game, after Superstar Saga of course (seriously, that game is flawless).

I checked in at about 34 hours for my final playtime. This was after not really wasting time on any sidequests, maybe just an hour to go back and get Luiginary Attacks that I'd missed. probably the longest Mario RPG of all time? maybe??

pros: game is tough, final boss was pretty brutal, tons of extra content, hard mode, fun, dream world concept was executed good, the minor characterization for the Luigi Bros. was good, etc.

cons: fucking tutorials, the game drags on a bit since the last two areas are way too long, and...that's about it!

cons with the final boss: okay I can safely say I didn't think that BOWSER would end up being the last boss, but I thought that was kind of disappointing. anyone else? Poor Antasma got like zero time in the spotlight, and I actually thought he was kind of cool. The dude was like...BARELY evil, comparatively. Oh well, at least we can take Bowser seriously again...even though I miss playing AS him.

I liked the plot twist with Bowser being the final boss. The whole time it looks like Antasma's leading Bowser along to betray him at any moment, but it completely inverts that. I would have loved the twist if Antasma got more screentime. There's hints of things there, like the Pi'illo elder that mentions his origins, and that moment when he claims he 'just wants to roam free' or something, but he just doesn't get enough showcasing for the surprise to have as much weight as it should. That, and despite the fact that Antasma wished for the castle it became Neo Bowser castle.

^ I just wanted Antasma and Bowser to stay evil bffs and be a dual Final Boss or something. They had bizarrely good chemistry. Sort of like how the final boss worked in Bowser's Inside Story where you flipped between characters to take on different parts of the Dark Star. I think they should have had the fight fluctuate between the real and dream worlds!
