Honestly, do you really distrust Rich that much, even after seeing the kind of writing he does? It comes down to that.

I'm pop flyin' thus far with all the twists and turns of this story. If Tarquin is powerful, then it's meant to be that way, it won't help the Order accomplish their ultimate goal so it's fine. And like Elan said in the dream sequence, they will not forget about his Empire. When the world is safe they will come for him, if something doesn't happen to him beforehand.

EDIT: New update. Well, I did call this.

What do you mean no one cares? Elan is dedicating himself to finding a way to bring him down without fulfilling his goals and Roy isn't exactly keen on letting him run around either. Not to mention Haley and her father.

If you're counting real-life people though, it's a matter of a good character as compared to what said character did. I like Tarquin because he's smart. He got to where he is through knowledge of how his world works and exploiting said knowledge mercilessly. He's evil, yes, but he's a good character.
Villain Sue.

This is pretty dumb. A villain is supposed to seem unfair and nigh-unstoppable. The fact that you can have such a dislike for the character alone proves he's a good villain.

Im not disliking him because he's a villain, Im disliking him because he's overpowered and irritating. Xykon has access to a certain level of genre awareness as well, but he's stuck so far up his own booty about his superiority that he tends to overlook whats right in front of him. Tarquin has no weakness, which is BORING. Just look at the latest strip. He kills Nale like its nothing at all, just a random asspull to show off further how amazing he is.

This is really my only hang up about the comic right now, but I REALLY hate this character.

I saw that page posted on /co/. I don't follow OoTS, but I'm pretty sure that someone wouldn't necessarily maintain their calm demeanor when they found out that their son killed their best friend and "valuable asset"., even if they were supposed to be a part of the whole "chessmaster villain" archetype. Something like that should have at least shaken him up. Although like I said, I don't follow it (I tried reading through the archives once but couldn't catch up); does Tarquin have anyone else very close to him that was killed and he retained a cool-headed outlook on things? Any precedent like that for his personality at all?

For all we know Tarquin might have a way of resurrecting Malack.

Tarquin has no real weaknesses shown yet, but when the protagonists eventually defeat him that will probably be revealed (that could of course be years from now in webcomic time). Also killing Nale isn't an accomplishment at all, it was a long time coming. Tarquin being the one to do it was done to enforce the idea that he's unempathic and methodological and to imply that he would do the same to Elan if he got in his way.

Also the "chessmaster" cliché doesn't really fit that perfectly, since the pyramid being destroyed was less than ideal for him and he was hoping Nale would yet impress him. Tarquin isn't a strategist because he unrealistically predicts every situation, he is one because he tries to take all eventualities into account.

Pretty sure vampires can't be resurrected except back into their mortal form, which Malak denied Durkon from doing to him.

Also his greatest strength is his biggest weakness. Knowing the genre conventions is powerful, sure, but when someone else also knows them then it becomes a handicap because they can influence how things go instead because they know how it's supposed to go, subvert it, and suddenly genre savvy is not helping at all. Elan is Tarquinn's worst nightmare.

It's based on Dungeons and Dragons rules. Reviving people is about as easy as in Dragonball.

Is it? In Dragonball you can perform mass resurrections as long as its the same guy or atleast him and his henchmen who killed them ,but dont you need to pay a shit ton of gold to resurrect in DnD?

Yeah but in Dragonball you first have to find all of them that can be anywhere on the planet and only once a year so that evens out with the steep price for DnD resurrections.

Yeah, but finding them was only difficult in the first few storyarcs in the manga, once the characters got powerful enough to fly around the planet in a minute, finding the Dragonballs became about as difficult as finding a fat white trash guy on a motor scooter in a Wal Mart.

You pretty much described the average DnD campaign.
