I used to be really into RvB but I lost track of where I was in the series and all I really know is it was somewhere after Tucker had a kid

So the newest Avengers Cartoon is horrible.

I honestly don't know why they try anymore. Marcel's cartoons always either 1) Are pretty good and then they get cancelled, or 2) They wind up being super horrible and end up going on for several seasons. The only Marvel cartoon I can think of that was decent and had a solid conclusion was X-Men Evolution.

I honestly blame Loeb for thinking that Spider-Man needed Family Guy cutaways and that Earth's Mightiest Heroes needed to be replaced with a show that could tie in well with the movie. Only it doesn't because it's horrible.

But at least Disney has Star Wars! They're making a cartoon called Star Wars: Rebels that has Greg Weisman (Gargoyles, Spectacular Spider-Man [the good Spidey show], Young Justice). Too bad it's going to be on Disney XD, a premium cable channel that not everyone has, so I'm expecting it to be cancelled in short order when it somehow, shockingly to the executives, doesn't get enough ratings.

I have honestly begun to believe that the modern action cartoon is dead.

The new Batman cartoon has some problems, but overall it could be a lot worse. It just has to follow up the awesomeness of Young Justice and GL: TAS and the fan outcry at their being cancelled. Hell, they still even get to say "Kill" and "Die" and Batman relocated his own shoulder on-screen, so it seems like they're getting some leeway when it comes to censorship like all DC cartoons. The specific problems it has are a younger Alfred who serves as a bodyguard, except not now because he gets his leg busted in the first episode so they can make room to introduce Katana as his new bodyguard when he's Bruce Wayne and sidekick as Batman. It's like, why evenn have him as younger if he's not even going to be able to fight or pull off any cool stuff for a supposedly long string of episodes. That and some of the characters designs just seem off or weird in their specific style of CGI.

I agree that 'Avengers Assemble' is pretty horrible compared to 'Earth's Mightiest Heroes'. The stories I have caught have been pretty lame/lacked any real imagination on the part of the writers, also the animation isn't all that hot and the background art is fairly lazy. I have no idea who the Falcon is and why he's in this show either.

Ultimate Spider-Man has grown on me a little - I can sit through an episode and not get angry most of the time - the way some of the characters have been re-written in this universe still confuses me sometimes though.

Ultimate Spiderman is fucking bullshit, its like a new version of Teen Titans, which was also horrible.

Teen Titans flaws were mainly rooted in trying to be Anime too hard, whereas Ultimate Spider Man gets all its flaw from trying to emulate Western cartoons. Entirely different issues really.

All I know is that suddenly, Im bombarded with annoying over the top anime reactions and one dimensional characters at every turn. This, after Earths Mightiest Heroes was so great.

Fucking Marvel...

It seems like when the characters get down to business and actually start fighting the villains, the show becomes much more tolerable.

And Terraem, as much as I would like to get excited for Wander Over Yonder, Disney's treatment of Gravity Falls has led me to believe that they're going to put it on hiatus whenever it suits them to stretch the season out for as long as possible.

where is the tension? It's like reading a superman comic

That comparison doesn't make a whole lot of sense

you already know they're going to win from the first minute. The only complication is how. That's just boring. Whenever the doctor or superman get into a position where there could be any real danger, some god from the machine comes into play and saves everyone

what about the times superman dies or he fails to save someone

I guess Game of Thrones is the only show that doesn't do that

it depends on the style of the show. shows like game of thrones that have a set amount of episodes/seasons and a large story planned out over months/years etc tend to kill characters more frequently because they are simply telling that one story, then being done. shows like doctor who are written in chunks intended to become seasons and the entire show is meant to go on indefinitely.

there's nothing wrong with either format.
