Does the headwear have to always be on? Do characters who don't normally wear hats in default count if they can put on a hat, or is it only people who wear hats all the time?

Viewtiful Joe is the main character of, what else, Viewtiful Joe. Joe relies on his fists, feets, movie magic and an array of sentai inspired weaponry, no guns tho. He wears a baseball cap normally, but dons a sick helm when it's time to kick teeth in. His girlfriend is kidnapped in the first game, but joins him in the sequel.

does "no guns" mean no guns on that character ever, or can it be no guns for the specific game you're playing

I'm just going to say no guns ever to simplify things

I wanted to post Snow but he is seen using a gun in a cutscene (but never uses one in gameplay) and I don't know if that would have counted.

So,

Professor Hershel Layton, from the Professor Layton series. He used to have a girlfriend, which you find out in The Unwound future. You also meet her in that game.

Didn't the gangsters in unwound have guns, and Layton had a token gun to fight them off? I was thinking about him but that put me off.

Anyways...

Jumpman from Donkey Kong. He has a girlfriend named Pauline. And the only weapon is a hammer and a barrel.

Well it's not a real gun. It's made out of a slotmachine and shoots jetons.
