Ah, yea, I forgot to mention I'm on PS3. I checked the disc, and it was clean. Two of my friends said the same thing was happening to them, and the problem stopped when we played in offline mode, so I guess it could be something with our network? It works now though.


EDIT: Some guy just gave me 10 Manus souls. I don't have the dlc, so will I still be able to use these?

Unless you are worried to carry ten soft humanity on your character the better route to go for that scythe would be +5 chaos instead of +10 fire, +5 chaos @ 10 humanity does FAR more base damage than +10 fire weapons. Also are you making these for PvP or PvE?

Also generally +15 weapons do more damage (if you have the right stats) than lightning or fire/chaos weapons due to the fact that +15 weapons only have to go through one type of defense while the other types have to go through two types of defense. Plus +15 weapons' ability to be buffed makes them the best choice unless one wants to min/max on health and endurance.

On my dex character, and now in general since I started really focusing on co-op, I tend to have a lot of soft humanity just there.
But here's the two reasons why I dislike chaos weapons.
A) I dislike having to rely on a gimmick like that. It outputs more damage but it's not really consistent, and that puts me off.
B) have you seen where the chaos ember is there is like seven hundred freaking taurus demons, the great scythe doesn't stagger i do not want any of that

I'd much prefer just having a fire weapon, instead of something that relies entirely on my humanity. I like having a lot of item humanity stored, in case I'm out of heal casts, for healing purposes. Having to use some just because I died and I maybe want to do some fire damage isn't what I want in the slightest.

And as I am, and will continue to be, a very heavy co-op character, chances are I'll have to do a lot of PvE and PvP. The fire great scythe is for enemies in general who are weak to fire. I have heavy amounts pyromancy for that also, but that has casts, and I dunno if I'll be out of casts or not. It'd be nice backup to have just a fire weapon on hand with the insane range of the scythe.

Been doing a Sorcerer run. Crystal Magic Weapon and Soul Spear are pretty great, and as until now I've been almost all melee combat, it's a nice change.

I stand by the fact that Homing Soulmass is super and horribly OP and I will never use it in a PvP duel. Outside of duels whatever we've both dropped the pretense of "fair" they're gonna regret not bowing, but it's still pretty OPnerfnow

I remember one time I was in the Giant's Tomb and someone invaded me and they just hit me with Dark Bead and then I died. A lot of sorceries are pretty broken.

Homing Soulmass is easy as fuck to dodge, all you need to do is roll to the side when it launches at you. Pursuers is hard as hell to dodge though, and i've often had it hit a wall and then a second later kill me. You can easily roll right through dark bead, it's not hard to dodge at all.

Actually that's just Dark Bead and Pursuers, which are both known as the worst ever. They're not even proper sorcery, they do physical damage and not magic damage.
The general consensus is both are only used by complete assholes and/or douchebags in serious PvP. I even met more than a few people who get together to gank dark magic users, but have been perfectly friendly people who gave me a very fun fight once they did conclude that I was not using dark magic.

Sorcery itself is mostly fairly straightforward. A lot of attacks have homing capabilities but can be easily avoided, but do a lot of damage when they hit. Soul Arrows/Spears in particular need a lot of range to really be dangerous, and while Homing Soulmass is generally not fun to fight against it can also be easily dodged because it's a lie and doesn't actually home in and just flies straight at the target.

The only really terrible part is that no shields provide a decent amount of magic protection but I guess if they did then magic would basically be useless so whatever.

The downside to being a darkmoon is unlike normal invasions or forest invaders, you don't come out with anything of real value. You get a souvenir of reprisal and that's it. No humanity, no chance for good items, just a souvenir for advancement in the darkmoon covenant. If you use darkmoon blade then that increases with power for every rank but otherwise...

It also scales downwards infinitely, but caps going upwards. So fights can sometimes be against people who are like level 10 while you're like 97 or something with maxed out gear and a chaos weapon and it's basically a curbstomp fight.
