Well, it's not like we're at a point where we need a lynch and voting no lynch always seems like a semi-safe route on the first day, so I'm not really expecting my lynch vote to go far. I just voted for the voter I'm most suspicious of. It also seemed like some of us were waiting for someone to be suggested for a lynch anyway. I'd only be very suspicious of people voting to end the day, or the last two votes or so.

Yeah, guys, what I said wasn't that we shouldn't be afraid of the serial killer/joker, what I said was that we should be more concerned about the mafia than we should the serial killer/joker at this point, and that being more afraid of the serial killer/joker than the mafia would only make sense if you were mafia, and thus nwouldn't have a reason to be afraid of the mafia. But, being mafia, they would have every reason to be afraid of the serial killer/joker since they're the ones with the chance of hitting the mafia each night/day.

@Kergan: That makes sense. It wasn't really a reason for me to suspect you, it just kinda confused me with the context.

The main issue is that town is likely to vote no lynch without good information flow on the first game. That might be an issue in other games, but right now, we have the chance to force the serial killer to work with us. They need the mafia dead as much as we do, and potentially getting rid of them on the first day after they hand us a mafia kill seems counter productive. We can deal with them later once the mafia gets trimmed down a bit.

However, I didn't vote because voting would put us a vote away from a decisive no lynch. That would mean that anyone who wanted to end the day quickly could jump in and stop discussion, which is something I want to encourage for later use in scum hunting.

I've made my intentions clear at this point, though I'm pretty suspicious now of Angelic for jumping on a lynch. Nothing really conclusive of course, but Angelic or Guy might be a good target for Gordon tonight, provided he hasn't gone after either of them already.

My other question, then, is how long you had the decision made to not lynch?

And again, I'm not saying that these things are definite "HOLY CRAP YOU'RE MAFIA!" they're just behaviors I would take up if I were mafia mixed with observations made by other parties.

Besides, one of the issues someone brought up was that we needed suspects and conversation. This creates that. Unfortunately, to create that, people need to go under the bus.

Someone could've suspected me with something I did that seems suspicious, and I'd have been pop flyin' to explain myself.

As soon as I knew we had a mafia killed (they can't be the miller because millers are only hidden by lynch and there's nothing to disguise them), I knew we had a bit more of an advantage and that, for now, we can potentially count on the serial killer to be an asset that helps weed out mafia and give us leads (If someone is saved from a lynch and is killed by the serial killer, we'll know whether mafia were trying to kill them or save them).

Besides which, the town almost always picks a day one no lynch unless someone stirs up enough trouble. No use rocking the boat myself, though, I like to force others to vote early on. It requires those eager to get to their night actions to have to speak up, and leaves an opening for discussion.

Wait I'm not understanding here - why does the serial killer have ties to mafia?

The serial killer has no ties to the mafia. None of the third-party roles do.

Wait I'm not understanding here - why does the serial killer have ties to mafia?

I meant it like this scenario.

Let's say people get in a big debate over whether Reyo was a hero or a villain and want to lynch him. Despite everything, they decide not to lynch him or there wasn't enough momentum to get it done.

The Serial Killer could kill Reyo that night, revealing whether he was innocent or guilty.

If he was guilty, the people defending him would look scummy.

If he was innocent, the people trying to lynch him would look more suspect.

It's like having a backup Gordon that leaves no room for questioning whether they're really Gordon or what their findings were. Unfortunately, it gets someone killed in the process, but it can lead to more successful scum hunts.

We do have to be careful of getting too chummy with the serial killer, but for now, we need to focus on getting rid of the mafia (and possibly Joker).

I wouldn't say it helps with scum hunts, personally. We find out if they were successful, sure, but only after the person is dead. It's still a pretty irresponsible death.

Really the only way we benefit is by being lucky - if the serial killer just happens to kill loads of mafia, that's great, but we can't expect that to happen.

But unfortunately, unless Reyo was lynched in that scenario, we wouldn't be any better off or know for sure.

And if people were convinced off of lynching him the first time, the general group is not going to go for having him lynched down the line until damning proof that he is mafia is revealed.

This is why half-hearted lynches tend to mess things up.

But in any case, this is all hypotheticals. Even so though, the serial killer is a powerful tool if used correctly.

As vanilla as I am, I can't say I don't feel a little uneasy being the example.

I see where you're coming from...but c'moooooooon!

Either way, we do still need to make some decision, whether it's to lynch, or not to lynch. I didn't hear about some time limit, but we're starting to get at it for quite a bit.

I mean, does anyone have any sort of striking suspicions?

Or, actually I do see a plan forming, though risky as hell...would...would it be a good idea to have the serial killer kill someone specific?

Isn't the serial killer's goal just to be the last person standing? I don't think they would be willing to help either town or mafia achieve their own win conditions before he does. If anything, he'll want to keep at least one mafia alive as long as possible so he can pick off the townies until he's the only one left.

Unless the serial killer being alive prevents the town from winning? I didn't think of that until just now.

It's typically how it works, but I don't know. It is Gotham. Shit sometimes just...happens...

Time limit's a week, so we're still fine.
Something about specifying vanilla doesn't sit right with me. Most people leave it cautiously vague to avoid drawing any attention, be it from the lynchers or the mafia (or the third parties I guess)
What you said was either stupid (true) or an overly specific denial (a common mistake made by liars to seem convincing)

If the mafia doesn't get him, I suggest we look at him a bit critically in the future.

((This post got ninjad - it's referring to Reyo's last post)
