Oh I should do that too! I've been trying to figure out a new way to exercise since my elliptical broke and I couldn't think of anything, but DDR should be good for now
(I haven't touched my ps2 in years I hope it still works)

Edit: Tried it and gave up after two songs on easy mode wow I am so out of shape
I need to start smaller, like taking walks or something

Taking a 10-15 minute walk every day before breakfast does you so much good. Not only because you wake up, but your body will be more ready to process whatever you eat after.

I've been looking into barefoot/minimalist shoe running. It seems pretty interesting, as I already tend to run with a forefoot strike, but I'm not entirely convinced if it really has benefits as opposed to using the right shoes.

It destroys the arches of your feet is what it does.

i run barefoot and it can be argued actually that it's better for your arches because it forces you to walk properly (ie on your toes rather than leading with the heel.) if nothing it it just feels much more natural and comfortable than with shoes on.

I've read a bit more into it, looked up the scientific research done to test it and I consulted my physiotherapist. When running on a hard surface you should still always wear some sort of footwear, just because it's damaging unless you have some very thick calluses. Landing on the front of your feet, as opposed to the back, doesn't offer any benefit for your oxygen use and switching over rapidly from shoes to barefoot/minimal footwear can cause injuries.
Front foot landings do help to lessen the shock of your foot hitting the ground, which may help to prevent typical runners' injuries, when your body is used to it.

As far as working out in the gym goes, I've found that when doing exercises that rely on me having a good balance, it's easier to do when barefoot.

Went on a 10 mile bike ride last night, felt really nice because I haven't worked out in awhile because my coach has been sick.

Have you guys ever heard of a smartphone app called MyFitnessPal? I've just started using it (about 2 weeks ago) and I really like it!

It acts as a logbook for all of your food consumption, exercise, and general living habits. It starts off by asking you your age, weight, height and a potential goal weight. Then it asks you how fast-paced you want your "diet" to be. It then gives you a daily calorie maximum for your meals, as well as a breakdown of the percentage of fats, carbs, proteins, etc that you should aim to consume. From that, it subtracts the appropriate amount based on what physical activity you perform throughout the day.

It's easy to use and has really helped me stay on track with good eating habits and exercise. Plus, it has a cool feature where you can scan the bar-code of different food packaging and it logs it for you automatically. I just like scanning things : )

Started counting calories and going to the gym. Feels good man.
Except my arms.
They feel like falling off.
Even though technically it was chest/back day.

The German name for muscle soreness translates bodaciously to "Muscle Hangover".

I believe this is a very fitting term.
Fuck my shoulders and forearms.

Is Lemon Water healthy? Also, is staying up 24 hours and sleeping 12 hours healthy?

I don't see a reason why the former would be unhealthy and it should add some vitamins, so go for it. The latter seems like it would completely disrupt your biorhythms and could cause a number of health issues.

Changing your sleep schedule like that could cause issues, as your biological clock expects you to keep a certain rythm. That said, I do remember reading about an experiment where people were kept in a window-less house where they didn't have daylight or clocks to tell them the time and started to maintain 36-hour days. I can't seem the find the article though.

Started a new exercise program because I am horrendously out of shape, a fact further proven by my first day's workout.

-20 crunches in two sets of ten because my stomach started to hurt each time
-Lifting a 15 pound weight in one hand in three sets of 20, alternating hands
-10 seconds of leg lifting
-10 (barely) push-ups

Definitely feeling it in my arms, but I don't know of a good leg workout other than running or the stationary bike here.
