I've been reading the SDR2 translation on tumblr instead; it's less detailed in that it doesn't cover every line of dialogue but you still get a general gist of what's happened in the game. It's also currently ahead of Oren in the game and it *seems* to update faster in exchange for not being as detailed.

Is there another translation for the first game somewhere?

Well we can fix that!

VICTIM OF CHAPTER 1:
Super High-School Level Baseball Player Leon
CULPRIT OF CHAPTER 1:
Super High-School Level Fortune Teller Hagakure
MOTIVE OF CHAPTER 1:
Leon threw one of Hagakure's $1,000,000 crystal balls against a wall and broke it.
METHOD OF CHAPTER 1:
Hagakure talks Naegi into exchanging rooms with him, and lures Leon to Naegi's room under false pretenses and murders Leon with a knife in Naegi's room, so as to frame Naegi.
PUNISHMENT OF CHAPTER 1:
Hagakure is on a quiz show-like set with three doors that have "1," "2," and "3" written on them. He has a 33.3% chance of getting executed from picking which door to go through. At the beginning Hagakure tries to enter the first door. However, the door grows hands and feet and escapes. The second door flees the same way. Only the third door remains. Hagakure is unwilling, but a mouth appears on the door and eats him.

VICTIM OF CHAPTER 2:
Super High-School Level Heir Togami
CULPRIT OF CHAPTER 2:
Super High-School Level Literary Girl Fukawa
MOTIVE OF CHAPTER 2:
Fukawa is secretly a deranged serial killer called "Genocider Syo" who likes to kill men that turn her on.
METHOD OF CHAPTER 2:
Fukawa comes into the library while Togami is studying murders, and locks the door. She then stabs Togami to death with scissors, and crucifies him to the wall.
PUNISHMENT OF CHAPTER 2:
Fukawa gets run over by a steam roller, and is flat as paper. Monobear then proceeds to make a daisy chain out of her with "Monoscissors."

VICTIM OF CHAPTER 3:
Super High-School Level Gang Member Mondo
CULPRIT OF CHAPTER 3:
Super High-School Level Hall Monitor Ishimaru
MOTIVE OF CHAPTER 3:
During a heated argument between the two in the school sauna, Mondo calls Ishimaru out for being a goody two shoes always out to look good. Ishimaru snaps, as his goal in life is to restore the family honor his grandfather lost as prime minister.
METHOD OF CHAPTER 3:
Ishimaru pushes Mondo onto the hot coals in the sauna and holds him there until Mondo dies.
PUNISHMENT OF CHAPTER 3:
Ishimaru is put on a conveyor belt leading away from a door that's about to close. He struggles to make his way to the exit in time, but is too late. He falls to the floor exhausted, and looks up to see at the end of the conveyor belt a giant press that says "YDRAT" on the bottom. He is crushed by the press.

VICTIM OF CHAPTER 4:
Super High-School Level Fashionable Girl Junko
CULPRIT OF CHAPTER 4:
Super High-School Level Idol Maizono
MOTIVE OF CHAPTER 4:
Junko makes a snide remark about how Maizono's going to be forgotten as an idol, just like how the latest dresses will eventually go out of style. Maizono hates that statement quite dearly.
METHOD OF CHAPTER 4:
Maizono writes a note to Junko, and tells Junko to come to the school cafeteria at 9 PM sharp. However, Maizono sets all of the clocks in the cafeteria one hour behind, and tricks her into coming to the school cafeteria and staying there when it's 10 PM. Junko hears the night announcements, and scrambles to leave the cafeteria, but it is too late. She gets torn to pieces by the ceiling-mounted machine guns.
PUNISHMENT OF CHAPTER 4:
Standing on a giant mantrap shaped stage, Maizono promises to make a perfect performance. On the right side of the stage a scoring panel is located, which successfully reaches 20 points. When the light wanders up almost filling the meter, Monobear destroys it. At the same moment the mantrap shuts and kills her.

VICTIM OF CHAPTER 5:
Super High-School Level Wrestler Oogami
CULPRIT OF CHAPTER 5:
Super High-School Level Swimmer Asahina
MOTIVE OF CHAPTER 5:
Asahina hates living in the school, and wants to go home. She hangs out with Oogami-chan all the time so as to lure Oogami-chan into a false sense of security.
METHOD OF CHAPTER 5:
Asahina invites Oogami to the Rec Room to drink some coffee, and then poisons her coffee. She then places a suicide note by Oogami's corpse, so she could make it look like a suicide, obviously.
PUNISHMENT OF CHAPTER 5:
Asahina is sitting in a giant donut being held by a giant Monobear. She starts eating the donut without a care in the world, but is startled when the donut starts moving. The Monobear dunks the donut into a giant steaming cup of coffee, and when he pulls it out, Asahina's skeleton rests on the donut before falling off into the coffee again.

VICTIM(S) OF CHAPTER 6:
Super High-School Level Programmer Chihiro
CULPRIT OF CHAPTER 6:
Super High-School Level Despair Kirigiri
MOTIVE OF CHAPTER 6:
Kirigiri has always loved seeing people wallow in despair, which is why she became a detective, taking great joy in uprooting people's private matters and affairs. The look on a culprit's face when they've been cornered puts her on Cloud 9, and so she started the Despair Academy with her little sister Chihiro, where she could help corner all her classmates into despair. Having access to the security cameras, she observed every murder that went on in the school, allowing her to help guide Naegi into cornering people during school trials. However, Chihiro started to question their objective of planting despair into the hearts of this world's inhabitants after witnessing Naegi's optimism and pluck. Deciding that she did not need a doubtful little sister whose only purpose was to program the Monobears' reactions to her classmates, she decided to get rid of Chihiro.
METHOD OF CHAPTER 6:
After 10 PM in the school cafeteria, Chihiro was busy programming a Monobear with responses based on the data she had gathered from everyone's behaviors and actions, when all of a sudden Kirigiri came by and handcuffed Chihiro to her chair, and shoved her face violently into Monobear's stomach. This set off the self-destruct sequence, and Chihiro, unable to move, died in the explosion.
PUNISHMENT OF CHAPTER 6:
Kirigiri explodes the entirety of Hope's Peak Academy with her in it while Naegi, Yamada, and Celes look on from a nearby cliff. Celes then pulls out a hammer, and hits Yamada on the head with it. He falls off the cliff, and then she turns towards Naegi. Now Naegi has a choice to make: either he agrees to become Celes' eternal butler, or he suffers the same fate as Yamada. Neither of these choices make any difference, as a part of the academy building comes crashing down on her, just barely missing Naegi thanks to his good luck.

THE END

Heh.

Edit: This escalated quickly.

Oogami is a girl.
Oh.

So, this game has:
Persona-like Social interactions
999-like story
and apparently Phoenix Wright-like examination and interrogations and stuff?
Interesting combo.

Edit after first murder: Shiiiiiiiiiiiit.

You know, in Phoenix Wright it's always "oh yeah, someone died, better find out who did it and prove my client innocent."
Here... you knew that person, you interacted with them and maybe even bonded. That's really hard on the emotions.

Edit:
Done with chapter 1.
Wow, that was certainly a thing.

Barabba, that was not what happened in chapter 1.
Is that because there are multiple possibilities or were you just pulling my leg?

He's just pulling every leg with all of that. Don't read any of it anyway until you finish the game, there's some hints to the truth.

Awww, it would be cool if there was every possibility of murders depending on who you bond with and stuff like that.
But the game would get huge that way.

But...but then you decide who lives or dies.

Yeah, I dunno if it would work here. Multiple paths would be sweet, but there's the whole 'you're deciding who lives and who dies', and maybe it wouldn't work too well for the plot, having a lot of unneeded bad endings or stuff like that. Games like 999 let you choose your path because it's not as clear as here that 'hey, someone'll likely die. Like, a 99% chance someone will'. You know that danger lurks there, but it's not as right away as in Dangan Ronpa.

Besides, it would diminish the 'there's no going back after you fall prey to despair' thing Monobear (or kuma, don't know how the translation's going) wants to show. You snap, you suffer for it, basically. Having the chance of stopping someone who would kill and being able to let them survive would be a bit odd, I dunno.

But really, you shouldn't read the spoilers. Despite most of it being jokes. Some of the stuff gets pretty obvious as you progress through the game, but it's better if you even find those things on your own.

Multiple paths sounds cool in theory but I agree that it sort of diminishes the point of the game.

Though the game devs did think up executions for every single character. It would be cool if there were videos for each one, but alas I'm sure they only made videos for the executions that were actually needed in the game.

Maybe if it was something less serious? I mean, still along the lines of 'who lives' and 'who dies', but maybe not as definite or anything. (Kinda like a computer game)

There's still tension, but I think multiple paths wouldn't diminish the feel of the story as much.

Multiple Paths as in, actual paths, in going through the entire game with a different character or something - not 'choose this', insta "bad end".

Also, on other news, some folks at the MSPA forum are making a RP about DR. Most of the times I think RPs are rather silly and unneeded, and even though there's still all the usual problems of an RP (off-topic talking|people that don't talk), I still think they're doing a rather decent job.

There aren't any glaring spoilers that I remember on the beginning, but I wouldn't advise you to read unless you're at least halfway through the first game. It follows the original game plot more than needed. (There is some talk about a single character from the second one, though it's not anything spoiler-y, still, proceed with caution)

We should totally make OCs and make our RP it would be hella sweet, dawg

I'm working on a dr adventure thread that I'll open when I get back from vacation.

Effectively, one player will be in on all of the planning and plotting with me, as they'll be the mastermind to my monobear.
