You could use it to verify someone's claim. Like if someone claimed they were roleblocked, you could ask if that person was indeed roleblocked. Or you could verify the number of guns or vests in play. Stuff like that.

I WAS starting to get worried about the length of this game, especially at the start. I wonder if 16 players is too much for a role madness game?

I hope the roles I picked were at least balanced.

The roles were good, but the main issue where everyone is a unique power role is that it makes it hard for mafia to play dumb. They obviously have to seem trustworthy enough to not lynch, but if they claim a one-off role, they're on the mark.

In their case, I think mafia would have needed to use the janitor to hide the role of the dead and hope they could guess and emulate them late game.

It's really hard for mafia when there's no "2 cops" or vanilla villager claims.

Still, mafia did good, and I was antsy about trying to out them without killing any credibility I had.

I hope everyone else had a lot of fun too.

Nooo that was the last game, I'm talking two games ago, when D-Vid panicked and pumped me full of lead.

I didn't panic. It almost worked! If only Saint didn't have a gun.

Admit it, I freaked you out when I made that comment on me being lynched and potentially showing up as guilty.

After thinking about it, would be anyone be upset if I held off on starting a new game until August? Games typically take about a month and I want to make sure I won't be disappearing for a week while the game is going on.

I'm also thinking of running a dr adventure/mafia thread that follows the game rules a bit more, but I still have to plan out some things, and I want to wait until I get home to do stuff like this.

And I was thinking about doing a reverse mafia, where mafia are the protagonists. Prison themed or something.

Take all the time you need, Marcato. You too Kamak, that could be awesome.

And D-vid, how are you thinking that would work? Would it just be a role reversal or a whole game change?

I'm not sure on the details yet.
I want to make it
-Inmates hatching a plan to break out of jail
-Guards trying to stop them

I'm thinking of making the bricks and mortar of the game 3 parties: Guards, Mafia, regular inmates.
Guards know each other, mafia know each other, other inmates are neutral.
It could be like a game with 2 mafias but slightly different.
Guards would try to find out who the mafia are and vice versa, regular inmates could individually decide to help either faction for a chance to benefit from that side winning or stay neutral.
It could be interesting.

So would Guards and Mafia both have chats? Or night actions for that matter. How would the guards win? (like would they have to just guess who mafia is or would they have to "beat/interrogate" as a kill alternative (oooooh i can see an interesting dynamic where they have the potential to "lose their jobs" and get booted from the game if they guess wrong), or am I just entirely wrong with your vision?)

Yeah, I thought about something like that.
Like Guards -> put someone in solidary, that one is out of the game, role revealed
Mafia do stuff. I dunno. Kill guards maybe? Also have to find a mole in their own rows.
Mole would be member of the mafia, who actually isn't. He's 2 roles at the same time, whatever mafia role and the mole. 1 random mafia night action without name of the perpetrator will get revealed to guards per night from the mole or something like that.

This still needs some thought.

I like the sound of that! So would you split the night into two parts then? One half for mafia's actions, the second for the guards once they get the mole's intel.

Also for context purposes you could always say mafia threaten the families of the guards instead of killing them. Renders them useless either way! :eng101:

Would you consider giving the neutral zone roles as well? I can see it being interesting to have one be able to find out the moles of either side, for their own personal use.

Watch me fill up pages with more questions about this idea

Maybe some Monaco Themed Roles?

Locksmith?

Cleaner?

Lookout?

Mole?
