If you're still using the zweihander you might be fine, just use the twohanded R2 to flatten them and follow up with another hit.
You're probably still gonna fall.
Make sure you're in human from so Paladin Leeroy invades you, you get his armor and Weapon + Shield (which has a health regen effect)

i'm not using the zwei for the tomb because skeleton regen, but i have a divine giant club that i'm planning on leveling up to +15

Once you get to the Wheel skeletons you don't need a divine weapon.
nothing in the Tomb of the Giants needs a divine weapon to kill.

i can save my titanite for my greatsword, and get that up to +5 fire and fuck all the things

And fire is pretty shitty, tons of things have fire defense and it isn't worth the scaling loss.

yeah but skeletons and nito are weak to fire

and the greatsword is bodaciously a zweihander with a higher strength rating, so really i don't care much about it, but i have learned that having elemental anything can win fights, especially against bosses and sometimes in PvP.

Greatsword has a different moveset, and is heavier. I'm pretty sure that a normal +15 zwei would be better than a +5 or even a +10 fire greatsword.
You could always apply charcoal resin to the +15 zwei if you want some extra damage. Nito is a pushover anyways.

and i don't know how much pure defense these skeletons have
logic says skeletons don't have a lot
but this game plays with logic like a toy so i don't know
i'd much rather go in with something that will do regular damage AND damage they're weak to, in case the regular damage is blocked too much

and if it's not better then whatever i get through, hit the blacksmith, and take the fire off

I really like the Greatsword of Artorias but fuck me if the one-handed heavy strike isn't completely useless.
