I should finish reading the Simarillion. The library is gonna hate me again if I don't.

Finished reading The Lord of the Rings a while back.

I already respected Mr. J. R. R. for his conlang work, but the actual book blows everything out of the water.

I had a pretty big hole in my heart when the Millennium Series ended.

Well not really ended, more like the author went and died before more books could be published. What a selfish jerk.

jk jk RIP Stieg Larsson you magnificent bastard

I find myself rereading Black Swan Green at least once a year. It might just supplant Drawing of the Three as my fave book.

I finished reading the Fellowship of the Ring about a week ago. I liked it, but I don't think I'll read the rest of them. It just dragged on and went by really slow. Kinda made reading it feel like a chore.

I started the Narnia series because of a recommendation from a friend. I've finished the Magician's Nephew so far...it was pretty good.

The Narnia books are really some of the best ever. They're kinda presented as possibly kids stories but generally they involve a lot of dark themes, the world is cohesive and built really well, and everything just is fantastic.

I like them pretty well so far. I'm about halfway through The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe now. I've actually read this one before, but it's been quite a few years, so I'm rereading it.

Also, a cool C.S. Lewis quote
"A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest."

I went on another library binge again.

I got 24 books, most are graphic novels but it was hell to get them all into the car while avoiding a massive thunderstorm.

Because it goes from "Christian allegory" to "Jesus bitches also fuck Susan for becoming interested in sex."

but
at no point does it talk about jesus at all
in fact while it constantly takes ideas from the bible but at the end of the day, the narnia god is a talking lion who bodaciously sang the world into existance

and susan isn't disconnected to narnia because she's grown up, it's because she stopped believing in it, and became more interested in herself. there's no mention, nor care, if she's into anything. her problem is that she has grown into kind of a conceited woman, but she also just lost her entire family in a train accident and that may plant the seeds for her to grow as a person and when she does die, she may possibly return to narnia.
