If you're running Degreaser+Axtinguish/Flare Gun or are going for an Ignite and Run idea, otherwise aiming for the straight flamethrower damage is quite important. It already takes a bit of leading if people aren't standing still or running in straight lines, so accurately damaging moving targets at a longer range would indeed be more difficult unless the flame particles are made faster to help compensate.

The Leafblower idea's been around for some time now. Generally causes lots of rage considering that, while the Rocket and Sticky Jumpers only affect the user - via jumps - "ezmode airblasts" could potentially wreak havoc versus projectile users and throw opponents about like...well, leaves. Personally I don't see the big deal about it if it keeps the same delay between airblasts. Maybe give it reduced knockback on opponents to shut up the louder whiners, though I never quite understood their beef outside of environmental damage. "You're complaining that the Pyro's pushing you around? You ever thought of, y'know, shooting him while he's busy doing all that 0 dps?"

Hmm, you do make a good point that the degreaser is usually used for crit play, which would make focus on continuous hits more important. It all depends on the variables in the end, how much range and how much spread.

A dude from FacePunch said that he play-tested the set back in November of 2011. Take it with a grain of salt, but he said the flamethrower was airblast based with a downside of less damage done. The melee functioned similarly to an eyelander, where it decapitated enemies on kill and had a longer range.

Why that though? They only added that clause to the Rocket/Sticky Jumper because they offered great mobility and would be OP otherwise, but a flamethrower?
