I agree. TWEWY, one of the more likely candidates for such a hypothetical DS Virtual Console title and one that fans would want on the WiiU would give me whiplash during battles.

You could just position yourself to where you only need to look up and down with your eyes between the screens, like you would with a DS.

The big headaches would be games that need the screen sideways, like Brain Age.

Rhythm heaven might be bad, but the touch screen can be oriented any way, it's just the top screen graphics will be sideways.

Or they could just release select classic titles for download on the DSi/3DS shop. Idunno about the 3DS eShop's library, but I would love to be able to swap between some of my favorite games on my DSi without having to sift through all my cartridges.

or

they could just put borders on the sides of the screen

no need for a sideways image

If it's a strict emulating device like I was talking about, it wouldn't see the difference between the games and just decide to flip certain ones.

I'm kinda iffy on them doing ports. The DS is still fairly new, and it'd just be easier to release some kind of peripheral that can emulate the games on the system rather than providing an online service where games might have to be touched up to play.

I'd think that ports to a digital version available to for download would be a good idea since certain games would be hard to find these days or expensive to purchase online. Also, the ease of use of "Go onto shop --> Buy and download game --> Play as soon as it finishes" would be great alongside the ability to take your DS anywhere with all the games you want/could possibly fit on it. That kind of stuff would make touching games up for digital ports worth it.

I think tilting the controller like that will hurt your wrists.

When I played TWEWY, I was usually holding my DS with one hand, and my stylus with the other so I could hit the shoulder buttons to swap between Pin sets that had the same input. That, or I had my DS on a table or something. I'm just not sure how I could play The World Ends With You comfortably with the GamePad and the TV as two separate screens.

The pad isn't that heavy, and you can play it like that when you're doing the Boost Mode on New Super Mario Bros. U without much problem.

The pad may not be heavy, but I can imagine that holding it up for prolonged amounts of time could be difficult. I also forgot that during battles I would need to use the D-Pad to use Shiki/Beat/Joshua to their full potential. So if I wanted to play TWEWY to a good capacity on the WiiU I would need to
-Position the Gamepad in a way that I can swap between the two screens by just moving my eyes. For me, this would mean holding the Gamepad up somewhere in my line of sight.
-Use the stylus with my right hand, leaving my left hand to
-Hold up the controller, use L to swap between Pin Sets and use the D-Pad/control stick to control my partner.

I don't see how that could in any way be comfortable. Other DS games could operate just fine with placing the Gamepad in your lap, but for more action-intensive games like TWEWY, ones that people would kill for on the WiiU, I don't see how it would work.

I'm actually considering buying that when I get some cheddar.
I know, I'm scared too.

also I am somehow still seeing comments on gaming websites saying that the wii u is a "catch-up" to the previous gen

No goddammit the only reason you asswipes keep saying that is because the launch titles consisted of half-assed ports FROM those systems.

No, they're saying that because in terms of hardware the WiiU is just barely matching/exceeding the current gen. Come the PS4/Xbox3 they're going to be right back in the bottom of the pack.

This is going to result in developers not making their games for the WiiU just like they treated the Wii. That's not good.

Which is clearly why Need For Speed on the Wii U uses the same assets and textures as the PC version as opposed to the ones used by the 360 and PS3, because it is only barely more powerful than those systems.

OH WAIT

All the Wii U needs is some really solid exclusives.
Like Rayma-Whoops.
