I beat Havel that fat fuck!
I died once because I risked going down the route past the dragon and one of those fuckers from the top of the tower that shoots at you when fighting the Taurus Demon followed me down.

here's a hint for anyone who wants to kill havel

take off all your armor

this is not a trick or a joke, if you take it all off, you'll move so much faster than havel that you can just wait for him to attack and roll away, then backstab

i was having trouble with him until i took everything off, and then he just died.

Just bait his attacks and backstab, don't take off ALL your armor. Keeep yourself under 25% equip load, or if you're gutsy you can parry his attack. You'll likely get flattened.

As long as you have the Knight Sheild your armor doesn't mean tiddy shit since he'll almost always one hit you with the shield.
Also is there any other way to get the flipity doo ring without murder?

No, you have to kill the bodyguard.

Ugh, well guess I have to sit here and keep playing these MP matches until I win 3 so I can get the fog ring before doing that.

Alright sweet so after four hours of trying to mooch off other people's kills I got the fog ring. And after another 40 minutes I got the wood grain ring. The buttbuttout flipped off the cliff and I had to quit and re-enter the game to get the ring, thank the heavens I knew that trick or my jimmies would have been the most rustled.

I always shielded against Havel. He couldn't do jack shit because he always telegraphed his attacks a week before he launched them. Shield up, block/roll, backstab, shield down to let stamina regen, repeat.

Am I the only one who kills Havel by parrying him?

nah i parry him too, just depends on the character im doing it with. i do go with galaxymans train of thought though cause for most of my characters its early enough on that he will one shot me anyway

Okay so I beat the capra demon, where do I go from here?
I tried out the depths so I could free that pyromancer dude, shit's scary man.

Gotta go to the depths.
Make sure you get the large ember in the chest by the butchers and bring it to Andre the blacksmith.

Oh shoot i forgot I picked that up, I was wondering why I came back to Firelink.

You can technically skip both the depths AND Blighttown.

Fun fact: I've had this game since release date, and I had never gone through Blighttown until just a few days ago.

I can't skip Blight town because I want to be the best romancer the pies have ever seen.
And there are like, two in there.
