Had an urge to check in on my old Super Mario World today.

Remember those old Groovy secret levels?

The original New Super Mario Bros. was the first 2D Mario platformer in 11 years.
NSMB Wii at least added some new powerups and a really wonderful multiplayer.

NSMB 2, however, re-used so many assets from the Wii game that it came off as incredibly empty and lazy, and it somehow made me HATE the sound of getting a coin.

NSMB U is, in my opinion, the best mario game to have "New" and takes a lot of cues from Super Mario World and FINALLY has some new music.

Excuse me while I break my Wii in a rage. (I don't have a Wii U, so I just ignore everything anyone says about it.)

(Stuff irrelevant to my post)

Hold up a minute, he said best Mario game in the 'new' brand. It may be a fantastic game and a solid launch title, but that in no way means it holds up to the rest of the Mario games. It's pretty great, yeah, but I have no idea about OA's opinion on how it stacks up against, say, Sunshine. (Choosing sunshine for my hypothetical because I haven't played it)

I find your lack of self control hilarious.

That said, I personally stayed away from the New titles since the DS remake. Honestly thought the final boss fight was pretty lackluster, although from some of the other New titles I've played, that may have been more due to a poor choice of first game rather than poor effort all around. I dont know, maybe sidescrolling Mario is getting rather old to me, but they dont seem to have the oomph it used to. I missed it when Mario would slide about like an ice skater with skates made of hot dogs.

I'm so late to the Mario Party(pun completely intended) that I'm just now playing through Super Mario Galaxy. Although in my defense I didn't own it until recently, before that I just borrowed it from a friend.

From what I've heard, the noisiest people are the people who hate Sunshine. Rarely do people profess their undying love for Sunshine like they do with Galaxy or the NSMB series (to various degrees for each game).

I thought Sunshine was fun, though, just saying.

The only REALLY major thing I hated about the game is the need to play the Shadow Mario levels in every stage in order to beat the game, which meant pretty much having to collect every single shine, and for some levels, that was really goddamn frustrating.

I'd rather just play though and beat the game, then maybe go back and get the few sprites that gave me the most trouble, since they often involved being precise or dicked you around a lot.

Also, fuck Phantamanta. That boss was the worst and it took so long for me to kill it. And if I remember right, the first time I beat it, I died from the remaining goop and had to redo it.

Oh my god the ghost manta is MY FAVORITE Mario boss from any game EVER. I love it so much.

You spray it and it's just like "WOOOAAHHHHH WOOAAAAHHHHH" and then it explodes into more.

I always dick around in that level and attempt to coat every inch of the stage in goop.
actually give me any stage with goop that doesn't electrocute me or set me on fire and I immediately set out to coat the world in it and sink as many people as I can.
