That looks very similar to the Ouya controller, which is apparently still a thing.

Another feature that I like is the innate game recording and streaming capability. That's one of the social features that makes a good amount of sense.

Yeah, I don't care for any of the other social integration crap but that's a good move.

No need for a capture chip. I can get behind that. Though it remains to be seen if the games are worth the system considering all we really got were cutscenes today with some tech demos.

I can't see publishers getting behind that very much.

I think it'll either get limited to multiplayer videos, or at least restricted in some way for games with extensive single players.

It's ripe for in-console LPing, and I don't see game companies wanting to get behind that.

Similarly, I'm not sure how that "jump into games your friends are playing even though you maybe haven't bought the game yet" is going to work out. For games that the main draw is the multiplayer for many people, this might be a loophole they can work. Maybe it'll have a time limit until you can't do it anymore, but even having it in the console is making me a bit worried about how hacking the system will give people access to these games for free (since they're downloaded to the console without payment), unless they're going to do some sort of always online bullshit or way to keep that from happening.

Sony hasn't exactly looked the best in terms of console security.

You can pirate games on the PS3 and Xbox360 too if you crack them. Being able to download it for free from Sony just saves you the trouble of finding a download yourself.

It seems like an overall easier nut to crack though.

How do you know how easy the PS4 is to crack without even seeing it?

I'm just saying it seems easier to crack if the game is already on the harddrive, possibly through a glitch like how the Wii was broken and homebrewed without losing contact with services like their online servers and the Wii Shop Channel.

Only in this case they're giving you the game on your harddrive without them needing to do anything.

Again, I'm not saying it'll definitively be easier to crack. I have no idea. It just seems like they're giving people the game, essentially putting the game in that person's domain, and then expecting payment or at least nothing to go wrong.

It feels like dangling a fish over a lion and expecting nothing bad to happen. Maybe my fears are unfounded, but it's how I feel after the announcement.

Well of course it's going to be cracked. Making it easier or not isn't going to matter, it just speeds up things. It's the same reason publishers should stop bothering with DRM, you're just delaying the inevitable. Not implementing features because you want to slightly delay something that's going to happen any way doesn't make much sense to me.
