Hello all! After browsing the forums, I couldn't see a thread devoted to models and miniatures building (aside from the 40K thread) and so, here we are!

----- Feel free to post about models you are building right now, discuss them with others, or heck, even talk about your techniques, frustrations, dream projects, etc! -----

I'll get us started; Here's some Perry Miniatures WWII Desert Rats I built a few months ago:

https://donkusgaming.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/image13.jpg

They were mostly a combination of drybrushing and washes (a nice orange glaze to make them look sunburnt!)

And... here's the model I built just today! One of the Mega Man trio I just picked up. I present to you, Mega man!

https://donkusgaming.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/image.jpg

He was assembled pretty easily, and I simply disassembled, organised by colour and then mounted the parts on toothpicks on a foam base for spray painting. Took about 5 hours in total.

Edit: Roll is now finished! That only took 8 hours to build and paint, woo.

I appreciate any feedback and look forward to others' work.

Currently finishing up a Geara Zulu in Rezin Schneider colors. So far so good, but daisies were those lines hard to paint.

I think this should be in the General section. I have a model of the Titanic, an XWing, and a US navy ship. My dad was more into it then me.
Do the cool expensive Lego sets count?

That's a mighty fine Geara Zulu ya got there! Nice paint work!

I've been building my fair share of gunpla too. Mostly for a wargame I've been steadily creating? Have some pictures!

I got tired of the garish RGM-79 colours, so I repainted them to be a little more military. Do ya like the result? :U

P.S: I'll allow Lego if you want, Todd!

P.P.S: I posted the thread in media because that's where the art threads are. I think it's okay here? Model making is a kind of art, maybe!

So, they have a 3d printer at my library now. Should I use it for good, or evil?

Why not try both?

But seriously, those things are so cool! What sort of things would you like to make? For some reason I am mentally picturing a model copy of the monopoly dog but wearing cool shades.

Man, if you're gonna build Squats you better go all out! I expect no less than six shades of gaudy 80's fluro paints. Remember, the better they clash, the cooler the space dwarf!

I would, but I don't think the collectors are willing to open up their mint-condition boxsets, and even more unlikely is more the opportunistic chinamen to suddenly stop taking advantage of the desperate on eBay and give out their molds for the dumb foreigners to use on the internet.

Yeah, collectors giving up vintage goods is pretty improbable. However! You might be able to make some conversions using non-GW products! Take this, for example:

https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4085/4960141967_994d3b4854.jpg

Wargames Factory (Who make some seriously cool stuff) make these "Sci-Fi Shock Troopers" who are an excellent substitute for Death Korps of Krieg and are even the right scale (28mm!)

If you look around you might find some dwarves or mutants you can convert!

I've been meaning to post a picture of my first ever gunpla built for some time now.

Image

I messed up some parts, but it was really fun. Now I need to collect ALL my favourites.

Have some Rick Dias murdering Starscream also:

That's a sweet Rick Dias, Terraem!

Your cuts are nice and clean on that model with a minimum of flash, pretty bloody good job for a first kit! I adore the HG Gunpla line.

Have you built any more models from the Zeta Gundam line? I recommend the Hyaku Shiki if you haven't!

It'd be nice if they had a Rick Dias in Real Grade. : (
I didn't build RGs for years because I somehow thought they weren't 1/144 scale, doy!

Edit: Thought I'd add a link to some hills I've been working on!
https://donkusgaming.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/image2.jpg

--- Anyway! I was wondering, who here plays war games with their models? I'd like to hear more about the ones you play!

Joh that Dias is beautiful. I've waited for a clear picture of it for ages.

Since we're all gunpla crazy, I figured I'd share a picture of my 1/144 scale RX-78-2!
My apologies for the image quality!
