Gonna go see The Hobbit, and I'm wondering if it'll be in 24 frames per second or 48 frames per second.

Saw MIB:3. It felt sort of by the numbers? Like my expectations going in were met exactly but I wasn't at all surprised by anything that happened.

Men In Black: 3, an adequate movie.

The Hobbit was great. I understand they cut some stuff and added some stuff. I wish that there was more time for them to talk to the Eagles, but the movie was already nearly 3 hours long at that point. The stuff they added was taken from the appendices that Tolkien wrote, so it wasn't like they were making things up out of the blue to add to it.

Although I really do hope that in the last movie, Smaug actually talks. That's an important segment.

I've watched both The Hobbit and Ted this weekend.

The Hobbit is great, had a nice balance of story and action. Although the "Sweeping landscape shots" got on my nerves a bit. Then they actually stopped, I'm thinking "Thank GOD!" The Rock giants were pretty bad booty.

And Ted. I didn't think a stoner comedy could blend well with rom-com. Especially coming from MacFarlene. But I enjoyed the hell out of it. They went out of their way to make Ted come off as flawed a human being as anyone can be. A lot of stoned humor, but hey Sam Jones is in it, too.

Will Arnett was the LAST person I expected to work in a MacFarlene movie, but it worked

Also I wanted to clarify that I didn't really think there was anything criminal going on, I just found the similarities uncanny. At most, I think SH2 might have been a bit of an inspiration (Nolan being an admitted gamer and all)

I agree. I remember them from the book, but I didn't think that Jackson would make them into Colossi the size of the actual mountains. That scene was utterly amazing.

Also, thanks for the heads-up, Accordion. According to IMDB, he's also playing The Necromancer. That should be interesting.

The Hobbit was amazing! The anger in Gollum's voice the last time he asked about 'its pocketses' was simply amazing. I cannot wait for next year.

Also Arthur Dent for Best Unexpected Journeyman.

The scene with Gollum is something that they had to get right, and they pulled it off quite well.

Also, I am very glad that when Bilbo was about to kill Gollum, they didn't have an echo of what Gandalf said earlier on. Good judgment on Jackson's part.

I feel that Radagast could have been slightly less silly. I liked the part that showed him in his hut, with his animals and such, but the tiny segment where Gandalf gave him the pipe to smoke felt rather... eh.

Saw The Hobbit in HFR 3D yesterday and ho shit my mind was blown. Once I got used to the framerate it was so goddamn immersive; it was amazing that a movie could look like that.
I found the length to be perfect, too. I heard that there were complaints that it was too long, but to me it felt about 20-25 minutes shorter than its actual length.

Pretty much everything about that movie is great, although I wish there was a bit less silliness at times.
fuck I don't want to wait for the other two now

Finally saw Ruby Sparks on Netflix

wow that was bad

like even worse than the "manic pixie dream girl comes into guy's life and teaches him to be spontaneous" thing I was expecting

It was only one hour and forty minutes long but it seemed to drag on into eternity

just don't

Saw The Hobbit myself. I'm not too experienced in the literature part of the franchise, but it was still an amazing movie. Too many of the people I went with were complaining that it's going to be drawn out to three movies. Sure, it seems a bit like cheddar whoring, but on the bright side now they HAVE to put more of the stuff that was in the book in the movies. They can't cut anything out because then it'd be too short to properly make another 2 movies out of.

I'm exited for Necromancer expansion.

Too bad I can't get the DVD/Blu Ray until the third movie comes out and BOX SETS.
