yes but guess what else can subdue someone
bodaciously every form of bending
guess which kind is best specifically for non-violent takedowns
waterbending

Bloodbending is an inherently violent act, and it may or may not be powered by hatred. It also completely removes any form of self-control from the bendee, and it seems to hurt like a bitch. If you really wanted to stop someone easily, you could engulf them in water and then freeze it solid. If you have the power to bloodbend, you have the power to waterbend, which is a much better move to not hurt someone.

If someone is using bloodbending they're not trying to be non-violent. It's the nature of the thing itself.

Airbending is arguably the most non-violent sort of bending. Which makes sense, as they're based on Buddhist monks.

See, the way I figure, you can't actually stop someone with air unless you beat them unconscious. You can't like, make air-handcuffs. You can make ice handcuffs, or rock handcuffs, but air and fire are less solid things and they'd be way more difficult to subdue someone entirely without harming them.

Also I don't know if it's ever made clear that bloodbending hurts the victim. I'm certain it feels very odd feeling your muscles move without your consent. Maybe that's enough to send someone into shock, I dunno.

I think obsessing over the nuts and bolts of bending is silly though, it's not meant to be taken super seriously.

Air is less about restraining as it is about reflecting.

Also Lambeth every single person under Bloodbending has sounded like they're in pain.

Unless the show or the creators explicitly say so I'm not assuming anything.

Struggling to get free can sound a lot like pain in some cases.

I didn't know taking a shit also made bones pop and grind against each other.

Saying bloodbending doesn't hurt because it hasn't explicitly been said is like looking at a guy with a broken leg and saying he hasn't said he's hurt so how should you know. While the guy is screaming in pain.

Well, you talk about hearts exploding and stuff, but anytime bloodbending is used in the show it is used to incapacitate someone instantly or take away their bending.

You ever notice how it incapacitates someone?

By either twisting them to the point of breaking them, slamming them into something, or knocking them unconscious.

And it takes a lot of trauma to make someone lose consciousness for just a few seconds. Once you get past half a minute you could be dealing with severe brain damage.

That's not nonviolent. That's incredibly violent. The entire basis of it being the least violent bending art is completely wrong. I'm honestly not sure if you've watched the series at all or if you're just looking things up.

Also, the art itself seems to slowly drive people insane. There's also the taking away of bending, which while less physically harmful, it's so harmful on the psyche that it's basically mental rape.

there's not a daisies part of bloodbending that's a good thing

It's been a while since I watched it so I might be forgetting things. I don't remember any broken legs.
