I'm going to finish The Silmarillion if it kills me.

I picked up Temptation by RL Stine today.

I should probably get to reading it.

Reading Exile, the second book of the Drizzt prequel series. Jarlaxle was just introduced. He wears a cape that appears rainbow-colored in visible light AND infravision, a vest that bares his abs, and an eyepatch that he periodically switches between his two working eyes. I love this guy already.

That ending. Just that ending. I think it's kinda genius.

Procrastinated reading and now have to read ~300 pages of words I can not pronounce by monday.

There was a dangerous sale at reader's feast recently and I walked away with about seven books whoops

I just started on Generation of Swine, first of Hunter's writings that I've actually read; a collection of articles he wrote for the paper. I'm actually really enjoying his style. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. Very grounded, very unpretentious. Only about a quarter in yet but I'll definitely be picking up more after this.

I finished reading DUNE the other day. Man, that is so fucking good. SO GOOD. I should get around to playing the game, though I hear it's pretty ordinary. When Paul was having those prescience visions of the Jihad and denying it coming into being I kept on thinking "YEAH DO IT FUCK THE EMPEROR AND EVERYONE ELSE". That's bad, right?

DUNE is one of my fav RTS games.

Finally finished The Last Wish (the first The Witcher book) and tomorrow I'll loan the next one from the library.

Richard Preston's 'The Cobra Event' is very, very, very mediocre. The acknowledgements thank individuals from the FBI, CDC, and other organizations, but it's written like someone took Google Search information and cut and pasted it into a book about biological terrorism. The story is interesting, and the characters are fairly well-developed, but the information and jargon told doesn't flow with the story well at all.

I'm reading the novel tie-ins for Dragon Age, and I'm in the middle of The Calling right now. I'm on the verge of tears reading this chapter. It's similar to the Fade section in the game, where the hero, Maric in this instance, has to pull people out of the dreams in which the Sloth demon has trapped them, but it's much more heart-wrenching than it was in the game. Every time he helps a Grey Warden away from their trap, he's ripping them away from their deepest dreams and strongest bonds, and in one case the Warden in question simply can't let go.

So I read all of Fight Club on Tuesday

it was good

Treasure Island is a great book; can't believe I haven't read it sooner.

Finished the last Dragon Age novel.

What do I do with my life now.
